Commentary

It was commanded previously that Allaah Almighty was very Merciful upon the Believers in the world that He guided them towards the Straight Path, saved them from the darkness of depravity and delivered them to the light of belief.

In these verses, their state of the Day of Resurrection has been described. It is commanded: When these Believers shall meet
Allaah Almighty, they will hear the voices from all around, “Peace with you”. It will be the first present which will be bestowed to them by Allaah Almighty. And the Angels (peace be upon them) will welcome them with the word “Peace”. And it will also be the first word which will come out from their mouths when they will see to one another mutually themselves. Allaah Almighty has prepared for them a noble reward.

After that, by addressing the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), it is commanded: We have appointed you and sent as a Witness upon all, as a Bringer of good tidings for the righteous people, as a Warner for the wrongdoers, as an Inviter towards Allaah Almighty by His Permission and as a Fountain of the Light for spreading the light of guidance, which itself is bright too like the sun.

Meaning of it that the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is a Witness, is that he authenticates by his act practically whatever he says, and he will give evidence concerning the entire Prophets (peace be upon them) on the Day of Resurrection that they had conveyed the Message of Allaah Almighty to His slaves correctly. Moreover, he (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) will give evidence concerning the people of his own nation that who of them was on the Right Path and who went astray.
