The treacherous people

Chapter ’Al-‘Ahzaab” - (The Clans) - 33

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

14.  If they had been approached from its sides and they had been exhorted to treachery, they would have committed it, and would have hesitated thereupon but little.

15.  And verily they had already sworn unto Allah that they would not turn their backs (to the foe). An Oath to Allah must be answered for.

15.  Wa  laqad  kaanuu  ‘Aaha-Dullaaha  min-  qablu  laa  yuwalluu-nal-‘adbaar.  Wa  kaana  ‘AhDullaahi  mas-‘uulaa.

Commentary

It is commanded: Excuse for protection of their houses is only a false cause. Actually their hearts have not inclined fully towards Islam. In the current situation, when they saw crowd of Infidels and apparently there was no sign of Muslims’ victory, then they perceived that they should leave the Battlefield and return to Township. Suppose if some people rush in Madinah from the outside and demand from them that they should be separate from the Muslims and fight them along with the outsiders, then they will get ready immediately to support them and come out for fighting against the Muslims. At that time, their delay would be only for preparation. Then neither will they evade for protecting their houses and nor thought of defeat will prevent them.

It is commanded: These are the people who had promised in the Presence of Allaah Almighty after the Battle of Uhud that they would never turn their backs and flee from the Battlefield in future. How they have broken their promise? They have to remember that Allaah Almighty will ask about that promise which will be made with Him. They are liable to fulfill their promise. They should get ready to suffer the torment if they broke the promise.
