‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

22.  And when the true Believers saw the Clans, they said: This is that which Allah and His Messenger promised us. And Allah and His Messenger are true. And it did but add to their faith and resignation.

23a.  Of the Believers are men who are true to that which they covenanted with Allah.
22.  Wa  lammaa  ra-‘al-Mu’-minuunal-‘Ahzaaba,  qaaluu  haazaa  maa  wa-‘adanAllaahu  wa  RasuuluHuu  wa  Sada-qAllaahu  wa  RasuuluH.  Wa  maa  zaadahum  ‘illaaa  ‘iimaa-nanw-wa  tasliimaa.

23a.  Minal-  Mu’-miniina  rijaalun-  sadaquu  maa  ‘aahadUllaaha  ‘alayh.

Commentary

Confusion of the Hypocrites; after looking great Armies of the Infidels; was described in the previous verses. Now condition of the Believer Muslims in such situation is being explained in this verse.

It is commanded: When true Believers saw that the Armies of the Infidels have been reaching, it came out thoughtlessly from their mouths: Now the time of that test and trial has reached; for which Allaah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) had promised us. Allaah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) had spoken the truth that the claim of Belief will be examined. After thinking this, their panic and fear went out from their hearts, and they began to prepare themselves for fighting while waiting for the help of Allaah Almighty. And arrival of those Armies increased their Belief and passion of obedience.

These Believers are not like the Hypocrites, who broke their entire earlier promises at the time of danger. There are many of them such people who showed after fulfilling their such covenant, which they had made with Allaah Almighty. They suffered calamities and troubles but did not turn from their covenants.
