Commentary

The tribe of Thamud was destroyed due to their evil deeds. They had become mad behind their wishes. By the sayings of an immodest woman, some of their immoral persons had hamstrung that she-camel; which was sent by Allaah Almighty and was a portent of the Prophet-hood of Salih (peace be upon him). Anguish of Allaah Almighty fell suddenly upon them and they were ruined.

After that, Satan seduced one more folk. Allaah Almighty appointed Lot (peace be upon him) as His Prophet and sent towards them for causing to understand them. He (peace be upon him) also at first admonished them publicly like other Prophets (peace be upon them) that they should fear from the wrath of Allaah Almighty. He (peace be upon him) said: Why have you become so much fearless that you have been involved in a worst act of the world carelessly? It would be better for you if you obey me and keep your duty to Allaah Almighty. I say only that which is better for you and I ask of you no wage therefor. That Lord of the Worlds will give me reward of my work Who has commanded me that I should cause to know you and guide you toward the right path.

Every Prophet and Messenger (peace be upon him) said the same at first to own tribe that: I am desirous of your correction. I do not want to get renown, wealth or property etc. for myself. Such people are real Leaders.
