Commentary
After the water-storm of Noah (peace be upon him), the world
became full of population again by those people, animals and birds, who were
saved from drowning by embarking on the ship. Some period passed in peace, but
when the population increased and the people spread here and there, then every
person began to do according to own will. From them; there was a group of
people which was called the tribe of ‘Aad. Their refractoriness
increased more than enough. There people were very healthy, strong, stout and
active. Their Country was fertile, so there was no deficiency of wealth. Ultimately
they also were involved in evil deeds being proud, which destroy the mankind.
After that, when the oppression of the oppressors increased very
much on the oppressed people, they gave up doing useful works and began to do
useless works for the sake of fame and renown, then Allaah Almighty appointed
Huud (peace be upon him) as His Prophet and sent towards them because he
belonged to the same folk (of ‘Aad).
At first, he (peace be upon him) conveyed the same Message which
is delivered by all Prophets (peace be upon them) usually, that is to say: Keep
your duty to Allaah Almighty, I am His trustworthy Messenger and say only
that to you which is better for you. So you should obey me. I do not demand wage,
wealth or property from you. But I cause to understand you only by the Command
of Allaah Almighty. My wage is the concern only of Him Who is the Lord
of the Worlds.
