Commentary

Yahii-qu – (it encompasses), origin of this word is hayqun, which means “to surround, to enclose).

It was commanded previously that “for being greater than others” it has become habit of everyone from them and they do not miss any chance of destroying their opponents by deceiving and using tricks. They become foes of them immediately and try to defeat them in all matters who do not follow them.

It is commanded: The ignorant people are unaware that those who deceive others seriously, their tricks are returned back to them. That person is ruined consequently who troubles other people unjust. It is possible that he may reap some temporary advantage for a few days and is pleased in his heart by thinking that he has thrown his adversary on his back, but in fact he has been planting thorns in favor of himself. In future he will be afflicted very severely. Remember! The oppressor will be destroyed himself. And those who were oppressed will overcome upon him.

It is such natural law, from which most of the people are careless, but it carries on its work continually. It is called Metaphorical Law, for which this proverb is famous, “As you sow so you shall reap”. Success of oppressors is not real. At last either they are punished in this world; otherwise it is sure that they will be tormented in the Hereafter due to retaliation of their wrong deeds.

It is being explained before the Idolaters of Makkah: You have been sowing seed of own destruction by molesting the Muslims unreasonably. Did you not hear the circumstances of ancient people? Reflect into the history of the world! Who is he from them who passed away in the past, but was not punished due to his evil deeds? Have you also been looking the same way that you too should be treated as they were treated? Remember it that “Tit for tat”.
