Way of judgment of the sense

Chapter “Naml”- (The Ant) - 27

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

 (I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 قَالَ نَكِّرُوا۟ لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنظُرْ أَتَهْتَدِىٓ أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ 41  فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ 42a

                                       

41.  He said: Alter her throne for her that we may see whether she will go aright or be of those not rightly guided. 42a.  So, when she came, it was said (unto her): Is thy throne like this?

41.  Qaala  nakkiruu  lahaa  arshahaa  nanzur  ‘atahtadiii  ‘am  takuunu  minallaziina  laa  yahtaduun. 42a.  Falammaa  jaaa’at  qiila  ‘ahaakazaa  ‘arshuk.

Commentary

When the throne of Bilquiis reached Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him), he ordered: Change its color and shape, so that we may judge that whether Bilquiis can understand the reality of the things or she is also among those, vision of whom stops only on apparent color and countenance; and it does not reach the depth of anything or matter instead of them.

Till then, it was found from those habits of Bilquiis which became manifest that she cannot be deceived by observing apparent signs. But she tries to know the facts after thinking deeply and does not make haste in deciding. It was expected from her that she would not be fascinated by looking apparent color of the world. But she would search out after understanding the reality of the thing, its law and its Creator. But from the issue of her adoring the sun and turning away from Allaah Almighty, it was deemed that like other disbelievers, she too is stupid and involves in only apparent matters.

It was the reason that Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) ordered: Change the appearance of her throne for her, that she feel necessity of thinking to comprehend it. We have to see whether she have the ability to meditate or otherwise. If she is intelligent, she will understand the truth. And we shall come to know that she can know Allaah Almighty. And if her attention is drawn then she can trace the Creator and the Lord of the world after looking it. As a matter of fact, only those people can be able to know Allaah Almighty, who do not involve in the worldly matters by looking its apparent color and form. And they can see over and above it.
