Commentary
Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) returned the messenger of Bilqiis
along with their gifts and said: I am not needy of your gifts. Either come unto
me as those who surrender, otherwise I come to you immediately along with great
Army and I shall not return without expelling you from your Country. You will
get such drubbing that you will be seen running and I shall turn you out of
doors. You will get nothing but disgrace and infamy. Wealth and emperor will
become for you a dream and thought only.
Bilqiis heard; thought and found out: we are not
able to fight against Solomon (peace be upon him). Inevitably, she bowed her
head before his order and decided to be present in his Court by accepting his
obedience. Then she departed according to command of Solomon (peace be upon
him) along with necessary things.
On other side, Solomon (peace be upon him) considered it
suitable that she should be shown a light of the Divine Power of Allaah
Almighty in the beginning. He turned the attention to the Courtiers and said: O assembly of chiefs, which of you will bring me her
throne before arrival of Bilqiis in submission, who has reached near? A
powerful one from among the jinn stood up and said: I can bring it to you
before you rise from your place. Indeed, I am strong for this task and I shall
not steal anything of the throne because I am trustworthy.
