Satan has no authority over Believers

Chapter “SABAA’” - (Saba) - 34

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

20.  And Satan indeed found his calculation true concerning them, for they follow him, all save a group of true Believers.

21.  And he had no warrant whatsoever against them, save that We would know him who believeth in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt thereof; and thy Lord (O Muhammad) is Watchful over things.
20.  Wa  laqad  saddaqa  ‘alayhim  ‘Ibliisu  zannahuu  fattaba-‘uuhu  ‘illaa  fariiqam-minal-  Mu’-miniin.

21.  Wa  maa  kaana  lahuu  ‘alay-him-min-  sultaanin  ‘illaa  li-na’-lama  many-yu’-minu  bil-‘Aakhirati  mimman  huwa  minhaa  fii  shakk.  Wa  Rabbuka  ‘alaa  kulli  shay-‘in  Hafiiz.
(Section 2)

Commentary

When Satan was forsaken after disobeying the Command of Allaah Almighty and denied from bowing before Adam (peace be upon him), then he asked for his life up to the last Hour. He had guessed by his judgment that he would mislead Adam and many of his children from the Right Path by deceiving.

It is commanded: he showed fulfilling his such probability concerning the descendants of Adam (peace be upon him) and they really fell into his scheming. Only those people could escape who believed in Allaah Almighty, obeyed His Commandments and acted upon the Sayings of His Prophets (peace be upon them).

Accordingly, the people of Sheba were entrapped by Satan, though Satan has not so much power that he may compel the human beings to go astray whether those are the people of Sheba or someone else. He can cheat and tempt only.

After that, it is commanded: Satan has been given the power of deceiving only, so that We may withdraw those who believe in the Day of Resurrection from those who are in doubt about that Day and have forgotten their Creator. Your Lord desired to examine the mankind in this way. Everything is before His Sight. Nothing is uncertain before Him.
