Commentary

Mention concerning David and Solomon (peace be upon them) was over. These were the people; to whom Allaah Almighty bestowed so many gifts and honors which cannot be numbered. They were commanded: Take such works from Our grants; from which your gratitude is disclosed. They (peace be upon them) obeyed the Commands of Allaah almighty and performed great welfare works for the creatures of Allaah Almighty by means of those grants. He gave them high ranks and bestowed to them dignity and reputation in the world and in the Hereafter.

After that, there is mention of the folk of Sheba in these verses. To them also Allaah Almighty granted great rewards, but they did not value and denied from obeying the Commands of Allaah Almighty. Instead of it, they began to fulfill their desires.

It is commanded: We spread greenness and freshness in their Country. Sheba was a part of Yemen, where ancient people had arranged to carry the water everywhere by constructing a great Dam. Two chained fields of gardens had been spreading on the right and on the left. The fruit were in abundance. They were said: Reap advantage from the favors bestowed by Allaah Almighty with convenience and be thankful to Him, that is to say, worship Him and dwell according to His Commandment.

Behold! How much your Township is beautiful, neat and clean? And your Lord Also is Forgiving Who will forgive your mistakes. You should not oppose Him intentionally. He will be Merciful always upon you.
