Commentary

It really was a wonderful desire. But mankind becomes tiresome of the same condition and says: Any new loving thing should be created. It is commanded: Their desire (Our Lord! Make the stage between our journeys longer) was as oppressing their own life as before them, the Children of Israel had been weary of eating Mann and Quails and they desired to earn their provision by labor.

Commentators say: it was the result of their desire that entire population and beauty was ruined. Only dust was visible everywhere. The people had been dispersed and flew away from those territories. Ease and comfort were changed into dry fields, hot winds and dust. Apparently it happened that Greeks and Romans took possession over Syria and Egypt. Transportation by Sea was opened for trade. Indian trading goods had been begun to be transported from the Sea-Ports of Yemen to Aqbah (Aylah). Trading Highway from Yemen to Hejaz, which led by dry way (land route), had been closed.

After that it is commanded: For those people there is a great advice in this incident, who improve themselves by patience and gratitude. They can understand from it that consequence of impatience and ingratitude is nothing save destruction. Arrangements of such peoples’ ruin are produced from the circumstances of around naturally. But those who remain steady on the prescribed path of Allaah Almighty and obey His such commandments which reached them by means of His Prophets (peace be upon them), they remain safe from misfortunes by the help of Allaah Almighty.
