Proofs for Pharaoh and his chiefs

Chapter Qasas”- (The Story) - 28

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

32.  Thrust thy hand into the bosom of thy robe it will come forth white without hurt. And guard thy heart from fear; then these shall be two proofs from your Lord unto Pharaoh and his chiefs. Lo! they are evil-living folk.

33.  He said: My Lord! I killed a man among them and I fear that they will kill me.
32.  ‘Usluk  yadaka  fii  jaybika  takhruj  bayzaaa-‘a  min  gayri  suuu’.  Wazmum  ‘ilayka  Janaahaka  minar-rahbi  fazaanika  burhaanaani  mir-Rabbika  ‘ilaa  Fir-‘awna  wa  mala-‘ih.  ‘Innahum  kaanuu  qawman  faasiqiin.

33.  Qaala  Rabbi  ‘innii  qataltu  minhum  nafsan  fa-‘akhaafu  ‘any-yaqtuluun.

Commentary

The words, Rabbi is actually Rabbii (my Lord) and yaqtuluuni is yaqtuluunanii (they will kill me), which have been abbreviated due to phraseology.

Janaahun – (hand), from fingers to armpit; complete arm is included in it. It aims “(Draw in your arm close to your body below the armpit”.

Minar-rahbi – (from fear), it aims “Draw in your arm close to you below the armpit) for removing fear”.

Zaani – (these two), it is plural of zaa, which is “Demonstrative Pronoun Masculine”, at the end of which “ka” has been added. Zaanika  burhaanaani – (these two strong proofs).

As soon as Moses (peace be upon him) caught the serpent, at once it became the staff again. Then Allaah Almighty commanded: Insert your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out pure white, without any disease. And whenever you feel fear due to any unusual change, you should draw in your arm close to your body. When you will thrust your hand in your robe again, it will become as it was (normally). Go to meet Pharaoh and his chiefs as Our representative, along with these two Miracles. They have become more refractory, and have broken rules and regulations of humanity.

Moses (peace be upon him) requested: I killed from among them someone, and I fear that they will arrest me and kill in return.
