Commentary

It will be commanded as a reply: There is no doubt in it that you tarried for only a little duration but considered that you had to tarry for a long time and enjoy fully. It would be better in favor of you if you had understood this matter even in the world and got ready for the life of the Hereafter quickly. But you found the life of the world very interesting. So you liked it and began to collect luxurious things as you had to live in the world for ever.

If you had known that worldly life was for only a few days or you had admitted the sayings of Our Prophets (peace be upon them and obeyed the Commandments mentioned in the Scriptures sent unto them, then you would neither have been suffering from so much repentance and grief, nor you would be burnt in the Fire of the Hell.

After that, for startling the mankind from the dream of negligence, it is commanded: O people! You should never deem that We have created you for naught and none will ask about your good or evil deeds. Listen and behold! Certainly you will have to be returned unto Us and a very oppressive result of your deeds will come out. If the scales of your good deeds will be heavy then you will dwell comfortably in the Gardens. But if the scales of your wicked deeds will be heavy then your abode will be Fire of the Hell for unknown period.

Give up thinking false that you are autocrats! Listen! Allaah Almighty does not like absurdity, wickedness and false matters. His Dignity is very Higher than thinking about falsehood. He is the True King and Greatest Judge. Full reward or punishment against everyone’s individual deeds is not given in this world. The Day of Resurrection has been fixed for this purpose.
