Commentary

Zikran – (a Reminder, a Book of Guidance), actual meanings are “to remind, memory, remembrance”. Here it aims “Holy Qur’an”, in which; admonitory occurrences have been mentioned for cautioning.

After inquiring from Aaron (peace be upon him) and causing to hear Samirii about his punishment, Moses (peace be upon him) addressed to his nation (the Children of Israel): What has happened with you that you adore useless things? You are the Children of the Prophets (peace be upon them) who raised voice always against the polytheism. What is your concern with idol-worshiping? Why have you forgotten that lesson which your and our grand-father taught to his children? Allah Almighty has appointed me and my brother Aaron Prophets with His Bounty then sent unto you, so that we should remind you your old lesson. Behold! Every matter is false save it that your God is only One and His name is Allaah. Only He has That Epithet which should be in a Worshiped. None other has That Epithet. Therefore, none save Him can be worthy of worship. And That Epithet is “’Ilm” (Knowledge), in which everything has been contained.

After that, it has been commanded to Muhammad, the Last Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Thus We cause to hear you the circumstances of the ancient times and nations, and in the same way We have bestowed a Book filled with instructive words for your Guidance.
