Commentary

It is commanded: This Qur’an, in which there are fixed and established Discourses, has not been made by any mankind. First of all, any mankind cannot describe any matter in such a decisive manner which is apparent in Holy Qur’an, because knowledge of mankind depends on his observation, thought and opinion only. As far as a Revelation from Allaah Almighty is not sent down towards him, he can say nothing with certainty. Secondly, the mankind does not have so much capability that he may write such kind of Dictation. Thirdly, that person cannot produce such constant writing who has not been educated formally.

Muhammad, the last Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) has been brought up before your eyes. You have been observing his circumstances with effect from his childhood. While he (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) did not learn reading and writing from any other, then how such Discourse (Holy Qur’an) can be of him, which is full of Knowledge, which can be understood by everyone easily and which is being recited before you according to every occasion? You would have to believe necessarily after meditating in all circumstances and listening to such remarkable Discourse as Qur’an that Allaah Almighty has taught it to Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) by means of inspiration. It is evident from its dignity that its Sender is very Powerful and so much Exalted in Might that no one can claim of his greatness and strength before Him. It is clear from the power of the Discourse that its Teacher has power to give full punishment to the disobedient. And where there is a declaration of His grace and bounty, there a Sea of His Mercy can be seen surging. And it is believed that He will make rich to His obedient people with His Favors.

It is being commanded to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him): Allaah Almighty has sent this Revelation to you for the purpose that you should warn and caution those people from the consequences of wicked deeds, towards whom no Warner was sent since long and even the fathers of whom did never hear such Words. It is the reason that they have been seized in the dream of negligence. Now you should rouse them from such dream.
