Coin for the disbelievers a
similitude!
Chapter “YAA-SIIIN” - (YASIN) - 36
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah
from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَٱضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَآءَهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ 13 إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ 14a

13. Coin for them a
similitude: The people of the City when those sent (from Allah) came unto
them-
14a. When We sent unto
them twain, and they denied them both, so We reinforced them with the third,

13. Wazrib lahum-masalan ‘As-haabal-Qaryah. ‘Iz jaaa-‘ahal- mursaluun.
14a. ‘Iz ‘arsalNaaa
‘ilayhimus-nayni
fakazzabuuhumaa fa-‘azzazNaa bi-saalisin-
|
Commentary
It was described in the previous verses: Real and strong
articles mentioned in Holy Qur’an and its glorious verses are sufficient
to prove it that Muhammad (grace, glory, blessing and peace of Allaah be
upon him) is a Messenger of Allaah Almighty and Holy Qur’an is
The Word of Allaah Almighty. His Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and
peace of Allaah be upon him) has come to guide the human beings towards
the Straight Path according to the same Holy Qur’an, so that those
people should rouse from the state of torpidity who are careless since long and
the dead nation may revive.
After that, it was commanded: Some unlucky people will deny the
Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace of Allaah be upon him) and
Holy Qur’an. Advice will not affect them. But certainly those will
believe in Allaah Almighty who will fear Him. Honors and Awards will be
given to such Believers with respect. Now a story is being described for its
explanation.
It is commanded: Tell them a story of the people of a Township as
an example. At first; We sent Our two Messengers (peace be upon them) towards
them. The people of the City said to them: You are liars, so we do not obey
you! Then We strengthened those two Messengers with
a third (peace be upon them).
Most of the commentators consider: That place was Antakya which
was a City of Syria. Some of them say: It was any other Township instead of
Antakya, this incident was happened before Jesus (peace be upon him), and those
three persons were from the followers of Moses (peace be upon them), who were
commanded: You should visit the people of so and so Township who have forgotten
Allaah Almighty entirely, cause to understand them that they should
believe in Allaah Almighty, and warn them that they should give up
committing evils due to fear of His torment.
