Commentary

Name of that third man, who came running from other side of the city, was Habib Najjaar. He was tortured very severely and slaughtered by the people of his folk. He was an innocent and well-wisher of his nation. In the passion of sympathy, he advised to the people. It was entirely good for them to whom he advised. Accordingly, after martyrdom when he reached the Paradise, even then he was thinking about the welfare of his folk. He said: If they could know the honor, which has been bestowed to me; then certainly they would have believed and been admitted among the chosen servants of Allaah Almighty after repentance.

It is commanded: Slaying a man was an extreme oppression of those obstinate people, who martyred him, which they could do in this worldly life. Therefore, they were punished. For this purpose, there was no need to send any Army from the sky to fight them. Before Allaah Almighty they were feeble although they used to consider themselves most powerful in the world.

If was commanded: Usually We do not send down soldiers for destroying the enemy. Only rebuking by Angels (peace be upon them) to such people is enough. They will die by their thundering voice only. Making special arrangement for this purpose is not necessary. Accordingly, they died by only one thunder and fell down. There is none who may have any power to speak before the wrath of Allaah Almighty. Haughty people are in deception that they consider themselves greater.
