Commentary

It is commanded: We destroyed them by Our variegated torment who disobeyed Our Commandments because they were refractory people. Nature of punishment on some of them has been described previously.

Here it is commanded: Some of them died by drowning in the water as – Pharaoh, Haamaan and the folk of Noah (peace be upon him). In this verse, it has been declared that Allaah Almighty does not wrong any individual. He has fixed Rules and Regulations of life because it was demand of His Skill. Whosoever will commit against His prescribed Rules and Regulations, will be punished.

It is commanded: No work is unarranged in Our Court. As We have prescribed Laws of life for other things, like this, We have established Laws of mankind’s life too. Our prophets (peace be upon them) are sent in the world for explaining those Laws, so that no one may say that they were slain unknowingly. While the Laws have been proclaimed by reliable sources then apology of ignorance will not be heard. And whoever will oppose the proclamation, punishment for him has been determined which will be given to him. And that punishment will be according to personal circumstances, current affairs and nature of the crime. Such punishment cannot be called “Oppression”.

The guilty tyrannizes on his soul himself that he breaks the prescribed Law intentionally after its determination. After that, state of those, who choose others as supporters instead of Allaah Almighty, has been caused to understand by a simile. And that simile is of “‘Ankabuut” (The Spider), due to which this Chapter has been named as “‘Al-‘Ankabuut”.
