Commentary
Allaah. Allaah.
Although the mankind has been frightened so much, even then he has been coming
involved in the same carelessness, which is just like deadly poison for him. He
is unable to understand this very little matter that some works, into which he
has fallen blindly, certainly become cause of bringing afflictions and ruin
upon him. Some people banter openly of this thought that “wicked deeds of the
mankind become reason of earthly and heavenly disasters”.
Holy Qur’an proclaims that it is true. It is obvious that
whenever great calamities came in the past, came at that time when the people
had gripped up their loins for extreme wickedness. Holy Qur’an draws
attention towards the same. In these verses, there is mention about the folk of
Lot (peace be upon him).
Those people had been breaking the human nature carelessly. Prophet Lot
(peace be upon him) caused them to understand very much but they did not care. And
they got ready to exile Lot (peace be upon him) and his household from the
township with violence.
Eventually, the Angels (peace be upon them) of torment came at first
towards Abraham (peace be upon him) and gave him good news of a son during old-age.
Then they said: We have been sent to destroy the townships of Lot (peace be
upon him), because the people of that place do not refrain from wrong deeds.
Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) became anxious that lest the righteous and
good people are also ruined along with the evil workers. He (peace be upon him)
said: Lot (peace be upon him) also lives there. When the township will be destroyed,
then would he too be caught in calamity while he is innocent? The Angels
understood the reason of Abraham’s confusion by his question (peace be upon them).
They said: We know condition of every individual who lives in that township. You
should be satisfied. Abstemious and good people will suffer no injury.
