The Poets

Chapter Shu-‘araaa’”- (The Poets) - 26

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

In accordance with the layout, this is twenty sixth Chapter of Holy Qur’an. It was revealed during the middle times of stay at Makkah, but last four verses were revealed in Madinah. Difference between Prophets (peace be upon them) and Poets has been described in this chapter. Idolaters of Makkah were not ready to believe in the Messenger-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), but they used to be astonished after hearing the diction of Holy Qur’an. When they were unable to say something, they used to say: He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is a Poet. It was supposed by them that the ranks of the poets were highest in eloquence of Arabic language. And they used to say that any of demons, (who, according to them, were superior creature to mankind), teaches poems to the poet.

After beholding the eloquence of Holy Qur’an, they could reach only the stage that any demon teaches him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) also. They did not have flight ahead of it. Their such claim has been refuted in Holy Qur’an at various places and it has been explained that neither any mankind can originate any such Scripture and nor any demon. Even that none can produce equal of its any verse. The problem was that in fact they were neither confuted of Divine Revelation and Prophet-hood, nor they used to give any importance to the Message which Messengers of Allaah Almighty (peace be upon them) conveyed unto the mankind.

In this chapter, it has been caused to understand them in very pompous and awesome way by telling them circumstances of many ancient folks, that unto every one of them, Allaah’s Prophet (peace be upon him) came and he delivered the Message of Allaah Almighty to own folk during his era. But unfortunately, they did not carry out his instructions. Therefore they were ruined by being entangled in variegated calamities. The aim from it is to infuse full importance of the Message of Allaah Almighty in the heart of the mankind. And it has been manifested that basically Message of every Prophet and Messenger (peace be upon him) was one only. With regard to different times, a little difference was partially necessary. But principles, rules and regulations remained the same from beginning to end.

Idolaters of Makkah have been warned particularly that Muhammad, Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is the last ring of the chain of those Messengers (peace be upon them), and the Holy Qur’an is His last Scripture, which has been sent down unto entire human beings by means of last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). It contains summary of all Journals and Scriptures revealed unto all ancient Messengers (peace be upon them). This Book is in Arabic language because the aim is to explain before the Arabic people at first, so that they may understand it easily, learn acting upon its commandments from the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), teach and cause to understand the people of the entire world, and show themselves as practical pattern of Holy Qur’an.

Then it has been described that difference between a Prophet and a poet is as the difference between the sky and the earth. After explaining about the difference, the mankind has been frightened from the consequence of disobedience.
