Commentary
After looking for an opportunity, Moses (peace be upon him) also
produced one more strong peculiarity of the Lord of the Worlds and said to Pharaoh:
You are King of only one small Country named Egypt, which does not have any
capacity opposite to amplitude of the entire earth. I am sent by That Absolute
Emperor Whose Sovereignty has been spreading upon the entire heavens, entire
earth and from the East up to the West. You possess a very small piece of land
but are behaving with boastfulness. So much great pride due to this small
empire is totally unbecoming.
Pharaoh had no answer of it, so he began to dispute and show his
power. He said: Are your sense and understanding working properly? Do you know
that before whom you are standing and talking? Saying someone else own Ruler,
Sovereign and God before me is clear mutiny. You don’t know that I can punish
you severely due to your this arrogance. And assuredly if you did not refrain
from these matters, then I would imprison you along with many other prisoners.
Moses (peace be upon him) understood that “An oak is not felled
with one stroke” and said: If I produce any such proof after which there remains
no chance of any doubt and which provides a short and decisive answer, will
then you believe? When Pharaoh cautioned his power, then Moses (peace be upon
him) considered that “Use of my natural power is suitable now”.
