Commentary

Clever and self-interested people press forward in the world by the support of their protectors. If they do not find the people who say on call “I am standing in the service”, then they hang down their heads through shame and bear quietly. Pharaoh also had been thriving under the shadow of his supporters. His airs could be with him till the time his followers follow him.

By the thunder of the voice of Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), the heart of Pharaoh trembled with fear. He began to think: If a commotion arose in my flatterers by it then I would sit down like a bubble. When Moses (peace be upon him) said by challenging: O Ignorant! The Lord of the Worlds is He Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, then he confused, lost his wits and began to look hither and thither instead of replying. He drew his attention towards the courtiers and asked: Are you hearing what is he saying? Mean while Moses (peace be upon him) challenged again: The same Lord of the Worlds is your Lord and the Lord of your fathers! It was one more scourge on uneasiness of Pharaoh. He cried: O people! This person, who says and claims that he has been sent by the Lord of the Worlds, is indeed a madman and senseless, because I am your Lord (God forbid). Where is that Lord Who has appointed and sent him unto us as a Messenger?

It is true that the people of higher class think always that any how their followers should follow them constantly; otherwise it will not be good for them.
