Commentary

Siraaj – (lamp), here it aims “the sun”.

Buruuj – (parts), this word is plural of burj. There are twelve parts of the sky, every part of which is called “Burj”.

Khilfatan – (following each other), origin of this word is khalaf, which means “a successor”. Khilfatan means “to follow in order (one succeeds the other).

For knowing Allaah Almighty, the most apparent Sign is “coming of day and night behind each other constantly and regularly.

In fact, the mankind does not think, otherwise when any man, who is not too much intelligent, will observe that one thing has been moving on one way itself again and again, can understand it easily that Someone exists Who has established this system.

Therefore, it has been commanded in this verse that He is Allaah Almighty Who is Blessed, Who created the heaven for establishing this arrangement, divided it in twelve parts (Buruuj); in which the stars move, Who placed the sun and the moon in it, by the means of their movement and regular change in their places, days and nights appear one after one. This movement is as much regular that the day and the night become successors of each other.

In this arrangement, there are countless benefits for the mankind. By looking them, if a wise person desires; can know Allaah Almighty easily and be thankful to Him. Main aim of the mankind should be the same.
