God did not show Satan the creation of the world

Chapter Kahf (The Cave) – 18

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

50b.  Do ye choose him and his seed for your protecting friends instead of Me, when they are an enemy unto you? Calamitous is the exchange for evildoers-

51.  I made them not to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor their own creation, nor choose I misleaders for (My) helpers.
50b.  ‘Afa-tattakhizuu-nahuu  wa  zurriyyatahuuu  ‘aw-liyaaa-‘a  min  duuNii  wa  hum  lakum  ‘aduww.  Bi’-sa  liz-zaalimiina  badalaa.

51.  Maaa  ‘Ash-hattuhum  khal-qas-samaa-waati  wal-‘arzi  wa  laa  khalqa  ‘anfu-sihim.  Wa  Maa  kuntu  muttakhizal-muzilliina  ‘azudaa.

Commentary

Zurriyyatahuuu – this word belongs to zurrun, origin of which is zurr. Zurr means “to spread”. If many things spread from one thing, that will be called its zurriyyatun, whether those are its descendants or disciples.

‘Ash-hattu – (I made to witness, I showed), it is past tense from the word shahaad, which has been derived from shahada. Shahaadatun means “to be present”. ‘Ash-haad means “to make to witness, to present, to lay before”.

‘Al-muzilliina – (misleaders), this word has come out from ‘Izlaal, origin of which is zalal. Zalal means “an error, mistake”. ‘Izlaal means “to mislead”.

‘Azudaa – (the arm), the arm is a part of the hand which has power and provides power to the hand. Therefore, it aims “helpers and supporters”.

It has been commanded in this verse: Will you make friends and companions to Satan and his disciples, after knowing the entire circumstances of him and his disciples? And will you choose him and his seed instead of Allah Almighty? Only unfair people and transgressors do so. Wise people will never violate it that instead of Allah Almighty; Who is Beneficent, Merciful, Omnipotent and Powerful; they are deceived by one such deceitful and hidden enemy, and make friend to such noxious in exchange of Allah Almighty. Satan is unable to interfere in the matters of God Almighty. He tries to spoil the works set in order and misleads them who have been going on the Right Path. Allah Almighty did never call Satan and his disciples for showing them after creation of the heavens and the earth and for asking their consultation that whether those (the heavens and the earth) were created right or otherwise. He is Creator of Satan himself and his disciples also. So there was no question of showing them.

On the whole, the aim is to cause to understand that Satan has neither any interference in the creation of the world and nor he has any power to make any change in it. Then what is this if it is not violation that by leaving Almighty and Powerful God, you choose your protecting friends to such persons who themselves are helpless?

50a.  And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He was of the Jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord’s Command.
50a.  Wa  ‘iz  qulNaa  lil-malaaa-‘ikatis-juduu  li-‘Aadama  fasa-jaduu  ‘illaa  ‘Ibliis.  Kaana  minal-Jinni fa-fasaqa  ‘an  ‘Amri  Rabbih.

Commentary

Fa-fasaqa – {so (he) rebelled}, it is past tense from the word fisq, which means “to cross the Line, to rebel, to disobey”.

The mankind has the things to meditate, but he delays from taking work from the things. And one such enemy has been teasing him who wants, by deceiving and enticing, to keep his sense entangled in the things which are transitory and of a passing nature. Alas! The mankind does not know the foe of his sense. It is the reason that the story of his forefather Adam (peace be upon him) has been being reminded again and again. Therefore, here too, his attention has been drawn again towards it according to circumstances that “did he not remember that when Adam (peace be upon him) was born, We commanded to the Angels (peace be upon them) that they should fall prostrate before him? The Angels fell prostrate as soon as We commanded, but Iblis who was from the kind of Jinn, and who was included among the Angels due to his worship, he denied, disobeyed the Command of his Lord and rebelled openly. He became enemy of Adam (peace be upon him) because Allah Almighty determined him as accursed because of falling not prostrate before Adam (peace be upon him). Then because this curse was fixed upon him due to Adam (peace be upon him), so he got ready to trouble him and asked for life from Allah Almighty until the establishment of the world. Therefore his request was sanctioned. Now every time his only work is to mislead the children of Adam (peace be upon him) continuously from the prescribed Path of God Almighty and keep the sense of mankind entangled in transitory things of the world.

49.  And the Book (of Deeds) will be placed and thou wilt see the guilty in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein; they will say, “Ah! Woe to us ! What a Book is this! It leaves out nothing small nor great, but hath counted it. And they will find all that they did, placed before them: And thy Lord will not treat anyone with injustice.
49.  Wa  wuzi-‘al-Kitaabu  fa-taral-mujrimiina  mushfi-qiina  mim-maa  fiihi  wa  yaquuluuna  yaa-waylata-naa  maa  li-haazal-kitaabi  laa  yugaadiru  sagiira-tanw-wa  laa  kabiira-tan  ‘illaaa  ‘ah-saahaa.  Wa  wajaduu  maa  ‘amiluu  haaziraa.  Wa  laa yazlimu  Rabbuka  ‘ahadaa.
(Section 6)

Commentary

Laa  yugaadiru – (leaves nothing), origin of this word is gadar, from which mugaadaratun has come out. Gadar means “to flee, leaving”. Mugaadaratun means “to abandon, to leave, to omit, to relinquish”.

‘Ah-saahaa – (has counted), it is past tense and its origin is hasii, which means “small pebble”. ‘Ah-saahaa means “to collect, to add up”.

It is commanded: Certainly the Day of Resurrection will come. After looking own Conduct Sheet (the Book of Deeds), every individual will say being surprised! It has left nothing from my worldly deeds whether those were small or great. Everything has been recorded in it regularly.

The entire deeds of the mankind which he performed or committed being fearless in the world and he/she considered that there is none who may ask, those all will come before their sights one by one. Then those deeds will be weighed and the deed which was without sincerity, that will be weightless in the scale. The deed which will be weighty and perfect, its doer will be given good reward. And that reward will be the same as it was explained already in Holy Qur’an. Like this, the deed which will be light in weight and false, its doer will be punished for it as much as it was mentioned in Holy Qur’an without any decrease.

It is commanded: Your Lord will not treat any person with injustice. He gives full reward or punishment which every individual deserves. However the Gate of His Favors and Blessings has also been opened.

Commentary

Nusayyi-ru – (We shall drive, We shall remove), this word has come out from sa-ya-ra. Sayr means “to walk, to remove”.

Maw-‘idan – (the Day of Judgment), its origin is wa-‘a-da. The words maw-‘id (promise, time or place) and mii-‘aad (the time of a promise, term etc.) are from the same origin. Here it aims “the Day of Resurrection”.

Baariza-tan – (opened), it aims that the earth will be a leveled plain. Neither there will be hills and nor verdure.

It is commanded: Remember that Day when the earth will be seen entirely a leveled plain. That Day will be the Day of Resurrection and We shall gather all the mankind in that Field; choosing them one by one. None of them will be left over. All human beings, who lived in the world, will be gathered at one place. And all of them will be produced before Allah Almighty duly arranged in ranks. Then they will be threatened that: Did you see? You are present personally and alone before Us leaving everything, in the same condition in which you were created at first. Otherwise you had thought and used to say also that “The Day of Resurrection is a blunder only. It is not any God’s determined thing that necessarily it would happen.” Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) tried his best to guide you and you used to hear the Verses of Holy Qur’an but you did not believe that “On a Day, the entire human beings would have to be present before Allah Almighty”. Look today! This is the Day of Appearance in Our Court.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

ٱلْمَالُ وَٱلْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْبَٰقِيَٰتُ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ أَمَلًا 46

46.  Wealth and children are an ornament of the life of the world. And (in fact) the good deeds which endure are better in thy Lord’s Sight for reward, and better in respect of hope.
46.  ‘Al-maalu  wal-banuuna  ziinatul-hayaatid-dunyaa.  Wal-baaqiyaatus-saalihaatu  khayrun  ‘inda  Rabbika  sawaabanw-wa  khayrun  ‘amalaa.

Commentary

Baaqiyaatu – (the deeds which endure), this word is plural of baaqiyatun, which has been derived from baqaa. Baqaa means “eternity, permanence, continuance, remaining, immortality etc.”  ‘Al-baaqiyaatus-saalihaatu means “those good deeds which are effective forever”.

‘Amalun – (hope, anticipation, belief, confidence),

It has been caused to understand in this verse that prosperity of the world, wealth and children, these entire things are very attractive for human being, but after death; these will be useless. The mankind will leave these things here and die empty-handed. Therefore, having interest into them is useless. The Life after death will be for always i.e. then there will be no death and nor the prosperity of that Life will depend on the prosperity of this life. Wealth and children are an ornament only of worldly life, but because the world is not firm, so we should not spend our entire time and toil in acquiring worldly things.

After that, it is commanded that if you desire the prosperity and success of that Life; then in this world; you should do such good works which should be of lasting nature, that is to say; the creatures of Allah Almighty may reap advantage from them always, for instance; causing to know the people about the Instructions mentioned in Holy Qur’an after acquiring its knowledge, showing them own example by acting oneself in accordance with those Instructions, making own children righteous and good by educating them properly and leaving them behind oneself for other people as an example (practically) of good works. Spending own wealth for perpetual benefits for the sake of God Almighty, for instance; establishing religious schools and training centers, and doing works of public good. Allah Almighty will give good rewards of such works and good hopes can be set up upon them.

45.  And coin for them the similitude of the life of the world (it is) as water which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingleth with it and then becometh dry twigs that the winds scatter. And Allah is Potent over everything.
45.  Waz-rib  lahum-masalal-hayaatid-dunyaa  kamaaa-‘in  ‘anzalNaahu  minas-samaaa-‘i  fakhtalata  bihii  nabaatul-‘arzi  fa-‘asbaha  hashiiman-  tazruuhur-riyaah.  Wa  kaanAllaahu  ‘alaa  kulli  shay-‘im -  Muq-tadiraa.

Commentary

Fakhtalata – (mingled), it is past tense from the word ‘ikhtalaat, which has come out from khilt. Khilt means “mixture, intermixed, to mix up”. ‘Ikhtalaat means “amalgamation, mixing different things, to be thick, springing of every kind of verdure and vegetation”.

Hashiimun – (dry twigs, small pieces), this word is an adjective from hasham, which means “to wither, to fall off after becoming withered, to become bran”.

Tazruu – (they scatter), it aims “the winds scatter the dry twigs here and there”.

Muq-tadiraa – (Potent), it is the Subject from the word qadara. Qudratun means “Potency, influence, power, sovereignty etc.”

Holy Qur’an draws attention of the mankind unto inconstancy and unstableness of the world. After Oneness of God and Messenger-hood, it is Its special topic. This truth has been impressed on the minds of human being at various places in Holy Qur’an by embellishing in different styles of explanation that the consequence of being involved in worldly matters only will be worse.

It has been commanded here, and the same has been caused to understand in Surah Yunus that you should behold the earth. It seems that it revives by the rain water. After raining, verdure begins to bloom all around. We see different kinds of trees, shrubs, trees and plants of fruit and flowers. But then, what does happen? The season of autumn comes and everything withers. It becomes dry twigs and the winds scatter all of it hither and thither.

In the same manner, you should consider that the world is seen prosperous with everything. In all directions, jollity, hustle & bustle, attractive and charming scenes fascinate the hearts. But on a Day, nothing will be remaining. Everything will be destroyed and it will be known that Potent over everything is God Almighty.

Commentary

Fi-‘a-tun – (troop, it aims “a group of supporters and protecting friends).

The mankind has been suffering from misunderstanding strictly. If someone can help him in difficulties and misfortunes, that is only Allah Almighty. The entire fruit trees, husbandry and agriculture of that Disbeliever had been burnt and become black. At night, he would have slept building castles in the air. But when he ceased sleeping in the morning, neither there were his gardens and nor crops. High creeping plants of the grapes had been lying on the ground and the walls had fallen upon them. Then he began to wring his hands and say: Alas! I had spent on it enough money. All has lost.

Then he thought: “It is the exchange that I was thankless to Allah Almighty. Would that I had believed that only He is my Lord and I had ascribed no partner to Him”. Then he had neither any friend and nor helper. His people in general, members of his family and folk could not help him in any matter and nor he was able to do something himself. In truth, to whom Allah Almighty has ignored, who can help him? There is none who may give best reward or full remuneration of work save Allah Almighty. At the time of misfortunes, only He is True Worshipped and Protector from calamities. Entire other false gods are helpless.

39.  If only, when thou enteredst thy garden, thou hadst said: That which Allah willeth (will come to pass)! There is no strength save in Allah! Though thou seest me as less than thee in wealth and children.

40.  Yet it may be that my Lord will give me better than thy garden, and will send on it a bolt from heaven, and some morning it will be a smooth hillside-

41.  Or some morning the water thereof will be lost in the earth so that thou canst not make search for it.

Commentary

Tarani – (you see me), this word has been derived from ru’-yatun, origin of which is taran. Ru’-yatun means “to see”. At the last; the word is “ni”, which actually is “nii”. Double “ii” is used for “me”. Here, ‘ana has come after the word tarani, which shows that “you see “particularly” me.

Yu’-tiyani – (Give me), origin of this word is “yu’-tii” from ‘at-yun. ‘At-yun means “to come”, ‘at-yaa’ means “to bestow”. Here too, “ii” was required but due to diminution; one “i” has been removed.

Husbaa-nan – (misfortune, disaster), this word has come out from hasaba, which means “to count, to conjecture”. Husbaana means “the thing which is counted as destructive, for instance; “hottest air” etc.

Sa-‘iidan means soft soil, zalaqun – (wet and slippery clay).

Would that you had said; when you entered in the garden; “That which Allah wills; will come to pass. No one has any power but that which He has bestowed”. You see to me that I am a very poor man. Neither I have wealth and nor children. I am alone. But everything is the control of Allah Almighty. He can give me better garden than of yours by His Grace, and He can change your garden into a leveled ground by sending any disaster due to your thanklessness and carelessness, or He can remove the water in your land, to the end that you may not bring out the water from the land, though you try your best to bring it out.
