Aim is to put the mankind on clear and bright path

Surah ‘Ibraahiim (Abraham) - 14

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Commentary

With effect from the beginning of this Chapter, the aim of arrival of God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in the world and revealing Holy Qur’aan upon Him has been being described. That is to say, purpose from it is that the mankind should be put on clear and bright path by bringing them forth from the darkness of sensuality and ambition, so that they may pass successful life in the world as well as they should be triumphant and rich in blessings on the Day of Resurrection before their Lord also.

Territory of Arab was chosen for the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), because within a short duration, a minaret might be established there for spreading Light in the entire world. Any other portion of land was not suitable for laying a foundation of such minaret. Those who study history; know that in those days, least opposition of Islam was possible in Arab only. In any other country, hundreds of years were required for conforming the circumstances according to requirement and the world would have been going astray for unknown times.

Therefore, at first to the Arabians, and then by means of them, to the entire world, it has been caused to know that they should not doubt in the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and His Message. Many Messengers (peace be upon them) have come in the ancient nations also. As those nations could not harm Them (peace be upon them) by opposing, like them, you would not be able to harm this Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

After describing the example of Messenger Moses (peace be upon him), it is being commanded in this verse: Have not the tidings of the folk of Noah, and the tribes of ‘Aad and Thamuud, and those after them reached you? You should not ignore after hearing the circumstances of ancient people, considering that those were only stories. But you should learn from them useful lessons for yourselves.

Commentary

Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) said to the Children of Israel: The person who is favored, it is his duty that he should be thankful to his Benefactor by his word, act and heart. And it is incumbent on him that he should perform this duty in exchange of previous kindness, without thinking about any further favour. But Allah Almighty, Who is Real Beneficent of the mankind, puts them also in biggest hope of future on being thankful to Him. He proclaims with His mercy and kindness: Your name will be registered in the list of those who are thankful to Him, if you expressed gratitude on previous favors. Not only this, but there are many more blessings ready for the grateful people for the future. Being thankful on old graciousness, more favors will be bestowed in future. But the people who will be thankless, they shall be punished severely.

Then it is commanded: It does not mean that Allah Almighty is necessitous of your thankfulness. He is Absolute and does not care for thanks of any person. He is Owner of all Praises, and appearance of His excellences does not depend on it that someone should extol of Him and praise with tongue, and serve Him with heart, hands and feet. There is no benefit of Allah Almighty in such things. However, there is advantage of mankind in thanking and obeying Him. They can acquire higher ranks due to being thankful to Allah Almighty, and can be rich with favors of this world and the Hereafter.

Commentary

This verse has passed during the mention of the Children of Israel in Suratul-Baqarah (Chapter-2) and Suratul-‘A’-raaf (Chapter-7), and it has been explained there. Here, it has been represented again in this connection that “how Moses (peace be upon him) performed His duty being a Messenger of Allah Almighty?” The Children of Israel had been suffered very much by Pharaoh. They were molested every time due to very little reasons. Any nation cannot keep up her moral balance if she is generally oppressed and tyrannized.

Therefore, Messenger Moses (peace be upon him) had to do two works:

·       Remove the fear of Pharaoh and his folk “Qabt” from the hearts of the Children of Israel.

·       Infuse fear of Allah Almighty in their hearts and teach them “how to be hopeful of His Mercy”, that is to say, fearing God Almighty and hoping from Him are greatest elixirs for correctness of morality and spiritual improvement.

Commentary

‘Ayyaa-Millaah – (the Days of Allah), the word ‘Ayyaam is plural of Yawm, usually which means “a Day”. Meanings from these days are “when evil came upon those people of old nations who were evildoers, and the good people were set free”.

In this verse, Allah Almighty has described about one of His great Messengers (peace be upon them), named Moses. It is commanded: Behold! Before Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), We sent Moses (peace be upon him) unto His nation; appointing Him as a Messenger and said to him that He should enjoin them to go Clear and Straight Path, and forbid them from false faiths, evil deeds and sins. Belief and good works are Light but disbelief and wicked deeds are darkness. The misfortunes and disasters which came upon ancient nations from time to time, were due to their wicked deeds. Whereas those people who were saved, were saved due to their belief and good works. By causing to hear the circumstances of old people, they will learn the lesson of steadfastness and patience during calamities, and thankfulness on blessings of heaven. And they will know that patience and thankfulness are means of pleasing Allah Almighty.

Commentary

Disbelievers of Makkah were not desirous to believe in Messenger-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Reason of which was that they were selfish. This madness had been filled in the mind of every individual that he should be chieftain and all other people should attend to him, and whatever he says, they should obey. Besides this, they had a great degree in the Arab. They did not want to be dethroned themselves; and accept their chieftain to such Person, who does not wish superiority of His nation. But He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) desires to finish the superiority of other all by establishing the Superiority of Allah Almighty. If He had chosen chief-ship for Himself and designed to elevate own folk above the entire people; even then there was no loss. But He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) does not give any importance to the honor and dignity of the world, and stops use of every thing for the cause of Allah Almighty, that by inclining unto Him, every thing of the world will be underneath the feet naturally.

Any thing of the world has no importance. Most important thing is pleasure of Allah Almighty. Perfect purpose of God’s commandments is to arrange for the next life (in the Hereafter). He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) wishes that the mankind should not forget Allah Almighty and the Day of Resurrection by being entangled in the works of the world only.

Selfish Idolaters could not understand that “Allah Almighty provides them every thing who give up every thing for His sake”. Therefore, they used to disbelieve in the Apostle-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and seek the plea of disbelief. On the whole, in addition to other matters, they used to say: As Arabic is His language; He can make Qur’aan in it Himself. Moreover, He can take help in this matter from those people who know Arabic language.

They used to say, “We would have admitted the Qur’aan that it was the Word of Allah if it had been revealed in any unusual language, which would not have been known to Him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)”. Reply of this pretence has been given in this verse that “your selfishness has been exciting you for evasions; otherwise the matter is very simple. We have sent Arabic Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) for the purpose that at first he should cause to know you. And it is evident that explaining before such person who understands the particular language; can be easy. Before this time, how much Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) came in this world, they used to speak that language which was spoken ordinarily in their country, because actual object is to cause to understand the people useful matters. And it can be explained well in the language which the people understand”.

God sends whom He will astray

Surah ‘Ibraahiim (Abraham) - 14

(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

4.  And We never sent a messenger save with the language of his folk, that he might make (the message) clear for them. Then Allah sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth whom He will. And He is the Mighty, the Wise.
4.  Wa  maaa  ‘arsalNaa  mir-rasuulin  ‘illaa  bi-lisaani  qaw-mihii  liyu-bayyina  lahum.  Fayuzil-lUllaahu  many-yashaaa-‘u  wa  Yahdii  many-yashaaa’.  Wa  Huwal-‘Aziizul-Hakiim.

Commentary

This verse does imply that “Allah Almighty has fixed a Rule that in which nation; any Messenger (peace be upon him) is sent, He should know the language of that entire nation, because the aim of sending a Messenger (peace be upon him) is that He may cause to understand the people; commandments of Allah Almighty. After understanding, if they are fortunate then their hearts will be fond of obedience. But if they are stubborn then they will not obey.

Allah Almighty arranges for the same; which, the nature of any individual demands. No human being is liable to any such responsibility, capability of which does not exist within him. This law is in force in the world and it has been made by Allah Almighty, Who has Power over everything and is Aware of the philosophy of everything. He has established the System of the universe very carefully.

We can perceive from this discussion that the actual thing is “Understanding the Message of God Almighty”. The language is only a source of its deliverance. Real purpose of Holy Qur’aan is not fulfilled by reading and remembering its words only. It is necessary to understand its meanings also, and if one is unable to understand himself; then he should know its meanings by asking from those who can explain.

Quran Chapter 14  2b & 3 (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1610) - درس قرآن

Faith in the life after death

Surah ‘Ibraahiim (Abraham) - 14

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

If the mankind disbelieved in Allah Almighty as his Creator and Lord, then he would consider that only the world was everything, and he would be worldly minded, fond of merriment, sports and gambol, pleasantness of life, wealth and property, rank and grandeur of the world.

Such people like this world only. For it; they bite each other. Not only they enjoy by putting others down with a heavy hand, but they consider it their great success in the world that by suppressing; they snatch from them everything, and then use their portion in front of them. It is first wicked deed of infidelity, which is result of knowing not Allah Almighty and being unaware of His Power.

Second slip of theirs’ is that they do not have faith in the next life; after death because they say: It is the last stage of ignorance that a person gives up a thing which he possesses, being entangled in the hope that he will get a better thing as its retaliation after death, whereas business principles of the world do not permit to do so. Therefore, when they hear this Message from the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) of Allah Almighty that the life of this world is nothing, actual life is the life of the Day of Resurrection, then they say about Him in one sigh “He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is stupid, foolish and mad (God forbid)”. And they say: O people! Which thing will be beneficial for me – my this property which has been spreading vast or promises of the Hereafter; green garden of which is being shown to me, and for fulfilling those promises, these entire things are being released at present from me?

These disbelievers cause to hear the people such fanciful things by setting them in order and prevent the mankind from the Way of Allah Almighty by showing their riches and magnificence. Revelations of Allah Almighty are pure and true, but the blasphemous produce perplexity in to them for misguiding the people and make the Straight Path of the religion crooked. They consider it fair that they should acquire such means, by which they may get the thing; whatsoever they wish. And they consider it crooked that they should give up unlawful rest by obeying the command of Allah Almighty and dwell the life of obedience.

Commentary

Yasud-duuna – {(they) debar (men)}, origin of this word is sad-dun, which means “to debar”.

Allah Almighty sent His Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), giving him the Holy Writ (Holy Qur’aan – the Religious Book of Islam); that he should guide the sense of mankind by spreading its Light, so that he (the human being) should know Allah Almighty and His Omnipotence, believe that only He is the Creator and Lord of the entire universe, and bow before Him only.

The person, who does not believe after it, is a blasphemous, and he has turned away and strayed from the Way of Allah Almighty. He should not consider that there will be no side effect of it. It has been described in this verse that for the disbelievers, very painful doom and severe punishment is ready. This world, in which they have been entangled, is for a few days. Being entangled in the evil of infidelity, their life will never be peaceful. And after death, the blasphemers will entirely fall upon evil days.

In the Light of Holy Qur’aan, the sense of the mankind sees clearly that the duty of human being is to believe in Allah Almighty and pass his worldly life according to His Commandments, otherwise mankind is nothing.

Commentary

These verses make sense that the mankind are in the darkness (in this world), deliverance from which can be then; when for them, sufficient magnitude of Light is provided. Let’s discuss “What is the darkness”. Mostly these are bestial desires of the mankind, which surround them from all around.

For this, Allah Almighty commands to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): We give you this Great Book (Holy Qur’aan), so that you should bring forth the mankind from darkness to the Light and guide them unto the Right Path by Our permission, so that their sense may see that Path which has been prescribed for human beings’ dwelling in this world. Allah possesses all power and all excellences are only in Him collectively. Sense of the mankind requires guidance that it is incumbent on the human beings that they should control their wishes; otherwise those will let them fall in the dry well filled up with rubbish continuously.
