Relations with husband, children & Other Kin

SAYINGS OF THE MESSENGER
(SALLALLAHO-ALAIHE-WA-AALEHI-WASALLAM)
Family Life
Relations with husband, children & Other Kin

153.  Sayyidatina “Umm Salmah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ha)
The woman whose husband is pleased with her and she dies will be sent to Paradise. (Ibn Majah, Tirmizi, Targheeb)

154.  Sayyidina ‘Abdullah bin ‘Awf (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
The woman who observes the five prayers regularly, fasts during the month of Ramadhan, preserves her chastity and obedient to her husband, will be told: Enter Paradise by whichever of its doors you wish to enter. (Ahmad, Tabarani, Targheeb)

155.  Sayyidina Husayn bin Mohsin (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Your husband is your Paradise and your Hell. (If he is obeyed then he is a means to Paradise, otherwise Hell). (Ahmad, Nasa’i, Targheeb)

156.   Sayyidina Qays bin Sa’d (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
If I were to command a person to prostrate before any other person I would command women to prostrate before their husbands because Allah has allowed many rights to husbands. (Abu Dawood, Targheeb)

157.   Sayyidina ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
It is the husband’s right on his wife that if he calls her to him she must not say no even if she is seated on a saddle back. It is also one of his rights that she must not observe optional fasting without his permission; if she does so then she will stay hungry and thirsty (meaninglessly) and her fasting will not be accepted. No woman should go out of her house without the permission of her husband; if she does so then the Angels of the heaven, Angels of mercy, Angels of punishment-all curse her until she returns. (Tabarani, Targheeb)

158.   Sayyidina Zayd bin Arqam (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
A woman cannot fulfill the rights of Allah unless she fulfils the rights of her husband. (Tabarani, Targheeb)

159.  Sayyidina ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Allah does not look at that woman (with mercy) who does not thank her husband although she can never be independent of him. (Nasa’i, Targheeb)

160.  Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
If a husband calls his wife to his bed and she does not oblige so that he is annoyed with her for the night then the Angels curse such a woman until dawn. (Bukhari, Targheeb)

RELATIONS WITH Children
161.  Sayyidah ‘Aishah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ha)
If anyone has on him the responsibility of raising daughters and he fulfils that responsibility gently, then these daughters will be a means to protect him from the Fire. (Bukhari, Muslim, Mishkat)

162.  Sayyidina Jabir bin Samurah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
If anyone teaches his children etiquettes it is better than paying one Sa’ in Sadaqah. (Sa’ is a measure of weight. Sadaqah is charity). (Tirmizi, Mishkat)

163.  Sayyidina Anas (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
If anyone raises two daughters looking after them until they attain adulthood then, on the day of Resurrection, I and he will be (near to one another) like that, saying that he joined his fingers together. (Muslim, Mishkat)

164.  Sayyidina Ibn ‘Abbas (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
If anyone is guardian over a girl (daughter, sister etc) and he does not bury her alive, does not belittle her, and does not prefer his male children over her then Allah will send him to Paradise. (Abu Dawood, Mishkat)

165.  Sayyidina Ayyub bin Moosa (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
A father cannot give his son a gift better than good moral upbringing. (Tirmizi, Mishkat)

166.  Sayyidina Suraaqah bin Maalik (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Shall I not reveal to you the most superior Sadaqah? If your daughter returns to you (on being divorced) and there is no one to earn for her besides you (then you must take care of her). (Ibn Majah, Mishkat)

167.  Sayyidina Sabrah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Teach your child to pray when he is seven years old. At ten years of age, beat him (if he neglects prayer). (Ahmad, Tirmizi, al-Jami’as-Saghir by Seyuti)

168.  Sayyidina Bakr bin ‘Abdullah bin ar-Rabee (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Teach your children swimming and archery. The best play for the believing women is the spinning wheel. When your mother and father summon you simultaneously then you must go to your mother first. (Ibn Mansoor, Faryaabi, al-Jami’as-Saghir)
