Preventing Quarrel Among a People And The Method To Do That

SAYINGS OF THE MESSENGER
(SALLALLAHO-ALAIHE-WA-AALEHI-WASALLAM)

Preventing Quarrel Among a People And The Method To Do That

247.  Sayyidina Abu Darda’ (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Shall I not tell you something better than voluntary fasting, prayer and charity?
The Companions (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho) said, “Do tell us! “He said, Let mutual relationship be pleasant (that is, put an end to quarrelling) because unpleasantness in mutual relationship is like a razor. I do not mean that it shaves the hair but that it shaves (spoils) religion.” (Abu Dawood, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

248.  Sayyidina Anas (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
He is not one of us who does not show compassion to our young and respect to the old. (Tirmizi, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

249.  Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
When a respectable man of a tribe comes to you, you should also honour him. (Al-Bazzaar, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

250.  Sayyidina Mu’awiyah(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Do make recommendations for a Muslim (a lawful manner). You will get a reward for that. (Abu Dawood, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

251.  Sayyidina Jabir(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Those of you who possess better character will be dearer to me. On the day of Resurrection, they will be seated nearer me (than other people will be).  And the most disliked by me on the day of Resurrection; more distant from me will be those who speak unnecessarily, are big-mouthed and boastful. (Tirmizi, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

252.  Sayyidina Anas(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Refrain from holding a bad opinion of people. (Tirmizi, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)
253.  Sayyidina Jabir(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
The (proceedings of) assemblies are a trust except three types of assemblies: Those convened to shed blood unlawfully (or decide about it); to commit fornication, and to appropriate property unjustly. (Abu Dawood, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

254.  Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
It is enough for a man to be a liar that he repeats everything he hears (without verifying its truth). (Muslim, Nasa’i, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

255.  Sayyidina Safyaan bin Asid(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
It is a grave sin that you tell your brother something so that he believes you although you are lying. (Abu Dawood, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

256.  Sayyidina ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ood(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
(Something) the devil comes to people in the form of a man and tells them something false. Then, when those people go their ways, one of them confides (to some other people), “I have heard something from a man whose face I recognize but whose name I do not remember and he said such-and-such a thing.” In this way, the lie spreads as a rumour and causes mischief. (Muslim, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

257.  Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
He is not a strong man who knocks down someone but he is a strong man who checks himself when he is angry. (Bukhari, Muslim, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

258.  Sayyidina Abu Waa’il (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Anger is from the devil and the devil was created from the fire. The fire is extinguished with water. So, if one of you gets angry he should perform ablution. (Abu Dawood, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

259.  Sayyidina Abu Zarr(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
If any one of you is overcome by anger and he is standing, let him sit down. If by sitting down his anger subsides, it is enough otherwise he should lie down. (Abu Dawood, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

260.  Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Do you know what backbiting is? The Companions (Radi-ALLAHO-An-hum) submitted, “Allah and His Messenger known best.”

The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said,”Backbiting is that one of you make mention of your brother in such a way that he would be displeased with it.

One of them asked, ”Even if that evil is found in my brother? “
The Prophet (Peace Be upon Him) said, “If that evil is found in him then you are guilty of backbiting him but if that is not found in him then you are guilty of slander.” (Abu Dawood, Tirmizi, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

261.  Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Keep away from jealousy because jealousy eats away piety in the same way as fire devours wood. (Abu Dawood, Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

262.  Sayyidina Abu Ayyub(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
It is not lawful for a Believer that he severs relations with his brother for more than three days so that when the two meet, each of them turns his face away from the other. The better of the two is he who is the first to greet the other. (Bukhari, Muslim,  Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

263.  Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
It is not lawful for a Believer that he severs relations with another Believer for more than three days. At the end of three days, each one of them must meet the other and present his salams (greetings) and if the other responds then both will have their portion of reward but if he does not respond then he will return with a sin.(Abu Dawood,  Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

264.  Sayyidina Wathilah bin al-Asqa’(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
Do not express pleasure at your brother’s hardship. Let it not happen that Allah release him from that hardship and involve you in it.(Tirmizi,  Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

265.  Sayyidina Anas(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho)
He who has given up disputing, while he was false will have a palace built for him on the edges of Paradise. He who gives up disputing while he was truthful will have a palace built for him in the middle of Paradise. And he who turns himself into a good character man will have a place built for him in the highest places of Paradise.   (Tirmizi,  Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

266.  Sayyid ‘Aishah(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ha)
The one most liable to the wrath of Allah is he who is very quarrelsome. (Bukhari,  Jama’ al-Fawa’id)

267.  Sayyidah ‘Aishah(Radi-ALLAHO-An-ha)
Mildness will adorn everything it is found in, but if removed from it, will make it defective.(Muslim, Abu Dawood,  Jama’ al-Fawa’id)
