Commentary

It is commanded: That individual will reap benefit personally who will abstain from evil deeds, do good works and choose apparent and hidden chastity. His good works or refraining from wicked deeds has no advantage for Allaah Almighty or His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings of Allaah be upon him). First of all, if one purifies oneself, will reap its advantage even in the world, then after death; every individual would have to be returned to Allaah Almighty, where good-doers will reap full advantage of their Belief and good deeds. A righteous person and a wrongdoer cannot be equal, because any seeing person and a blind cannot be alike as light and darkness cannot be equal. Just like this, there is very much difference between any shadowy, cool place and the sun’s full heat. The living and the dead also are not equal.

Understand from the same that the person who believes in Allaah Almighty; cannot be equal with that person who disbelieves in Him!
The first is the seer while the second is the blind. The first has been walking in the light but the second has been surrounded in the darkness. The first has been going towards the cool and comfortable place while the second has been running towards severe hot winds. The first is the living but the second is the dead because actual life is the spiritual life which is only for them who believe in Allaah Almighty and obey Him. The mankind is like a dead body without it who apparently seems walking.
