(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Commentary

Yusiibu – (to let fall, to strike), origin of this word is ‘asaabatun, origin of which is sawbun. Sawbun means “toward”. ‘Asaabatun means “to let fall toward someone”. Yusiibu  bihii means “He causes to fall it”.

Bardun – (hail, frozen drops of rain)

When the cold increases in the mass of clouds (which would be like mountains); then the water changes its form in frozen drops of rain after freezing. And some things may be damaged there; where it (pieces of Hail) falls abundant. Many places are saved also from hail or its loss. The flash lightens sharply in the mountains of clouds and by sudden burst of its light the eyes dazzle, even it seems that the sight is near to go to end. Everybody is aware of this scene.

It has been commanded in this verse that it all is a Token of the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty, by which we should comprehend Him. Moreover, there is a clear Token of His Omnipotence also in changing of days and nights regularly. The eyes of the hearts of whose are able to see, for them; there is an opportunity that they should meditate in these Tokens. If they will deem, they will find out that none other can do this all save Allaah Almighty.
