Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

92b.  or bring Allah and the angels as a warrant-

93.  Or thou have a house of gold; or thou ascend up into heaven, and even then we will put no faith in thine ascension till thou bring down for us a book that we can read. Say (O Muhammad): My Lord be Glorified! Am I aught save a mortal Messenger?
92b.  ‘Aw  ta’-tiya  Billaahi  wal-malaaa-‘ikati  qabiilaa.

93.  ‘Aw yakuuna laka baytum-min-  zukhrufin  ‘aw  tarqaa  fis-samaaa’.  Wa  lan-nu’-mina  liruqiyyika  hattaa  tunazzila  ‘alaynaa  kitaaban-naqra-‘uhuu.  Qul  Subhaana  Rabbii  hal  Kuntu  ‘illaa  basharar-Rasuulaa.  (Section 10)

Commentary

Zukhrufin – (gold or plated with it), actual meaning of zukhrufin is “adornment and beautification” which is acquired by the gold or plated with it”.

Qabiilun – {in front (of)}, this word is an adjective from qabala, which means “before”. The thing, which is before someone, is called qabiil.

Ruqiy-yun – (to ascend), origin of this word is raqaya, which means “to climb or going up, to rise”.

Subhaana  Rabbii – (my Lord be Glorified!), this Speech comes out from the mouth without delay at the time of surprise as SubhaanAllaah and expresses that it is a wonder. When Idolaters of Makkah said to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): We shall not put faith in You till You cause a spring to gush forth from the earth, or You have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth therein abundantly, or You cause the heaven to fall upon us piecemeal, as You have pretended, or You should bring Allah and the angels as a warrant, or You have a house of gold; or You ascend up into heaven, and even then we will put no faith in Your ascension till You bring down for us a book that we can read, then Allah Almighty commanded to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that He should say to them: My Lord be Glorified! I am only a Mankind who has been sent unto you to convey the Message of God Almighty.
