Anger on those who recite Qur’an

Chapter Hajj” – (The Pilgrimage) - 22

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

72a.  And when Our Revelations are recited unto them, thou knowest the denial in the faces of those who disbelieve; they all but attack those who recite Our Revelations unto them.
72a.  Wa  ‘izaa  tutlaa  ‘alayhim  ‘AayaatuNaa  Bayyinaatin-  ta’-rifu  fii  wujuuhil-laziina  kafarul-munkar.  Yakaaduuna  yas-tuuna  billaziina  yatluuna  ‘alayhim  ‘AayaatiNaa.

Commentary

‘Al-munkar – (the denial, bad sign), it is past participle from the word “’inkaar”, which has passed in Surah Tawbah. It aims “displeasure, effects of wrath, worse matter”.

Yas-tuuna – (they attack), origin of this word is sat-wun which means “to attack”, that is to say, they become angry as it seems that they will begin to beat.

When any matter takes one’s heart, then he does not like to hear against it whether that is right or wrong. And he rages upon that person who says against that what is in his heart. It seems from his face-reading that he is about to beat. The same condition was of the idolaters of Makkah. They were out of opposition that they would never give up the traditions and ways of adoration, which their forefathers had introduced. They were caused to hear the Revelations mentioned in Holy Qur’an, in which there were open teachings concerning Oneness of God Almighty and reproof on adoring the idols.

It is commanded: Revelations of Holy Qur’an are recited before them; they begin to winkle their brows in displeasure and make their faces. Moreover, if someone recites continuously Holy Qur’an before them, then they foam with fury due to anger and their faces become red. It looks that they will attack those who have been reciting the Revelations. And it seems that they have been feeling strict pain internally.
