Commentary

Mansakun – (sacred rites, certain way, place), it is from the noun of place, derived from the word nasak. Nasak means “a way, to choose a path”. Naasik is the Subject from the same which means “worshiper, adorer”.

It is commanded: Those ancient nations which passed away, for them; Allaah Almighty had prescribed a way of worship, so that the people may acquire His pleasure by choosing that Way. A Way for the Nation of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) (Muslim Ummah) has been prescribed also, that they should worship Him like this and deserve His willingness. Therefore, you should say to these people that they should not quarrel in this matter. It is in the power of Allaah Almighty that He describes the Way of His worship as He desires. No one has any right to find faults in it. They should understand it carefully that while they have believed in Allaah Almighty then they should worship Him and be grateful to Him as He commands. No individual should make any amendment in His commandments.

Then Allaah Almighty commands to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): These people are ignorant. You should not care their objections. However you should summon them continuously unto the obedience of their Lord. You have been going on the Right Path. After causing to understand them clearly, if even then they criticize the prayer, the poor-due, the fast, the pilgrimage and the sacrifice; and wish to amend into them by themselves, then you should say to them: Allaah Almighty is Aware of your tricks. Your cleverness will not be useful before Him.
