(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

49.  Say: O mankind! I am only a plain warner unto you.

50.  Those who believed and did good works, for them is pardon and a rich provision.

51.  And those who strive to thwart Our Revelations; such are rightful owners of the Fire.

51.  Wallaziina  sa-‘aw  fiii  ‘AayaatiNaa  mu-‘aajiziina  ‘ulaaa-‘ika  ‘As-haabul- Jahiim.

Commentary

Mu-‘aajiziina – (those who thwart, transgressors), this word is plural of mu-‘aajizun, which has been derived from ‘ijz. ‘Ijz means “weakness, to be rendered helpless, to lose”. Mu-‘aajizun means “the person who transgresses”.

It was explained clearly about the nature of the world in the verses before these. Position and place of the mankind, which is in it, has also been described openly. Found from it is that a battle between Good and Evil will continue in the world always until the establishment of the Day of Resurrection. Betterment of the mankind is in it that he should enjoin the Good and forbid the Evil. It is of no consequence if even he has to fight for this purpose. In these verses, place; position of the Prophets (peace be upon them) among the mankind and their work have been described.

It is being commanded to Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that he should say to the people: Allaah Almighty has appointed me His last Messenger and sent unto you. My only duty is to inform you about the consequence of your deeds. Every individual will be punished due to own sins. I say in open and clear words to you that first condition for prosperity of the mankind is “Belief”. That is to say, having belief that only Allaah Almighty is The Creator of this entire universe, only He is, Who has been bringing it up and Who will take an account of mankind’s deeds on the Day of Resurrection. The persons who will believe in His Prophets (peace be upon them) and do good works according to their instructions, their sins will be pardoned and Allaah Almighty will bestow them abundant with honor and respect by His Grace. And the persons who will deny His Revelations and try to disgrace His Prophets (peace be upon them), their abode will be Hell, which is a very piteous and calamitous place.
