Quran Chapter 11-44 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1376) - درس قرآن

Ship of Noah came to rest upon a mount

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

44.  And it was said: O earth! Swallow thy water and O sky! Be cleared of clouds! And the water was made to subside and the Commandment was fulfilled; and it (the ship) came to rest upon (the mount) Al-Judi and it was said: A far removal for wrongdoing folk!
44.  Wa  qiila  yaaa-‘arzub-la-‘ii  maaa-‘aki  wa  yaa-samaaa-‘u  ‘aqli-‘ii  wa  giizal-maaa-‘u  wa  quzi-yal-‘amru  wasta-wat  ‘alal-Juu-diyyi  wa  qiila  bu’-dal-lil-qawmiz-zaalimiin.

(Part One-Fourth)

Commentary

‘Ib-la-‘ii – (Swallow!), it is a feminine word of command, which has been derived from the word bal-‘un. Bal-‘un means “to swallow). Here; it aims “to imbibe the water, to absorb”.

‘Aqli-‘ii – (Stop!), it is also a feminine word of command from the word ‘aqlaa’, which has come out from the word qal-‘a. Qal-‘a means “to uproot from its place”. ‘Aqlaa’ means “to stop the work”.

Giiza – (was made to subside), it is a past passive voice tense. Origin of this word is gay-zun, which means “to remove or disappear in the earth”. Here; it aims “to dry up and evaporate the water”.

Bu’-dan – (Begone), it is an origin which means “a far removal and to get away”. When it is kept in its form then it aims “a curse and to threaten”, as we say: Be off O rejected persons. Here, abhorrence from the wrongdoers has been disclosed; who were ruined but they did not refrain from their stubbornness.

It is commanded that the earth was ordered that it should stop causing to gush forth the water, and the sky was commanded that it should cease raining. After a few days, peaks of the mountains began to appear in the water and the ship of Noah (peace be upon him) came to rest upon a mount; named Al-Juudii. This hurricane finished the arrogant miscreants entirely. A sound echoed in the openness: A far removal for the wrongdoing folk.

It has not been explained in the Holy Qur’an that whether the storm had come over the entire earth or only in the hemisphere of Babel. It aims only to cause to understand that when wicked deeds of the wrongdoer nations increase more than enough, then the wrath of Allah Almighty ruins them, whether that destruction adopt any form, for example, famine or plague, flood or war. Therefore, every human being should fear from the wrath of God Almighty, and correct their conduct.
