Torment of Allah for the people of Salih

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

64.  And O my people! This is the camel of Allah, a token unto you, so leave her to feed in Allah’s earth, and touch her not with harm lest a near torment seize you.

65.  But they hamstrung her, and then he said: Enjoy life in your dwelling-place three days! This is a promise that will not be belied.
64.  Wa  yaa-qawmi  haa-zihii  naaqa-tUllaahi  lakum  ‘aayatan  fazaruu-haa  ta’-kul  fiii  ‘arZillaahi  wa  laa  tamas-suuhaa  bi-suuu-‘in  fa-ya’-khuza-kum  ‘Azaabun-qariib.

65.  Fa-‘aqaruu-haa  faqaala  tamatta-‘uu  fii  daari-kum  sa-laa-sata  ‘ayyaam.  Zaalika  wa’-dun  gayru  mak-zuub.

Commentary

Allah Almighty is very Forbearing and Mild. He gives respite continuously to the sinners, so that they should understand. But when they do not refrain from wicked deeds in any case; then they are removed from the world, so that they may not mislead other people.

The people said to Prophet Salih (peace be upon him): Produce a camel from the rock before you if you are true. He (peace be upon him) addressed Allah Almighty in prayer and the camel came out. But even then, they did not believe.

Prophet Salih (peace be upon him) said to them: You demanded this camel. Leave her to feed freely in the earth wherever she wants. Your safety depends on her safety.

They passed some days silently, but later on, they were fed up and caused to slaughter her (the camel) through an immoral and ostentatious person. When Salih (peace be upon him) beheld, he warned the people: Now you are given respite of living only for three days. Then you will be seized by a torment of Allah Almighty and you will be ruined.

Who will save me from Allah if I disobey Him? - Quran Chapter 11-63 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1392) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 11-63 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1392) - درس قرآن

Who will save me from Allah if I disobey Him?

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

 قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَءَاتَىٰنِى مِنْهُ رَحْمَةً فَمَن يَنصُرُنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُۥفَمَا تَزِيدُونَنِى غَيْرَ تَخْسِيرٍ (63

63.  He said: O my people! Bethink you; if I am (acting) on clear Proof from my Lord and there hath come unto me a mercy from Him, who will save me from Allah if I disobey Him? Ye would add to me naught save perdition.
63.  Qaala  yaa-qawmi  ‘a-ra-‘ay-tum  ‘in  kuntu  ‘alaa  Bayyi-na-tim-mir-Rabbii  wa  ‘aataanii  minhu  Rahamtan  famany-yan-surunii  minAllaahi  ‘in  ‘asay-tuh.  Famaa  tazii-duuna-nii  gay-ra  takh-siir.

Commentary

Takh-siir – (perdition, utter loss), orign of this word is kha-sa-ra, from which the words khasaarah and khusraan have come out. Khaasi-ruuna and khaasi-riina have been used at many places, which are plural of khaasirun. Khaasirun means losser. The word takh-siir is at the weight of taq-siir and meanings of these both words correspond nearly with each other.

Prophet Salih (peace be upon him) said: O my people! Listen to me! My Lord has given me correct sense with His mercy and caused to understand me clearly, so I have chosen the Right Path.

If after having so much big Bounty, I shall disobey command of Allah Almighty and He will punish me then who will save me at that time? If you have any doubt in my saying, I don’t care. There is much difference between the sense of every individual. But my Lord has bestowed me special bright wisdom and it is a mercy from Him, and no veil of ignorance  and negligence has been lying on it. How can I disobey Him intentionally?

It is clear that if I shall follow you then there is nothing for me in it but utter loss. You follow the traditions; established by your ancestors, in which there is nothing for you save perdition. By obeying you, I shall inherit nothing also save the loss.

A grave doubt about worship other than God - Quran Chapter 11-62 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1391) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 11-62 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1391) - درس قرآن

A grave doubt about worship other than God

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

 قَالُوا۟ يَٰصَٰلِحُ قَدْ كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّا قَبْلَ هَٰذَآ أَتَنْهَىٰنَآ أَن نَّعْبُدَ مَا يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِى شَكٍّمِّمَّا تَدْعُونَآ إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍ (62

62.  They said: O Salih! Thou hast been among us hitherto as that wherein our hope was placed. Dost thou ask us not to worship what our fathers worshipped? Lo! We verily are in grave doubt concerning that to which thou callest us.
62.  Qaaluu  yaa-Saa-lihu  qad  kunta  fiinaa  mar-juwwan  qabla  haazaaa  ‘atan-haa-naaa  ‘an-na’-buda  maa  ya’-budu  ‘aabaaa-‘unaa  wa  ‘inna-naa  lafii  shak-kim-mim-maa  tad-‘uunaaa  ‘ilayhi  muriib.

Commentary

Mar-juwwan – (placing a hope in something, hopeful, feasible), it is the passive participle from ra-ja-wa, origin from which is rajaa’. Rajaa means “hope, reliance, trust, expectation. Raajii means “who expects”. Marjuwwan means “from whom it is expected”.

Muriibin – (doubtful, suspicious), it is the Subject from the word ‘iraabatun, origin of which is ra-ya-ba. It means “to ensnare in doubts”.

In fact, there is only one reason of mankind’s abandonment from religious faith. He wants that there should be no-one who may prevent him, and he may try his best to fulfill his every desire. Contrary to it, Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) of Allah Almighty used to produce always only one matter that Owner of you and the entire universe is One God (Allah Almighty). You should prostrate before Him only, and say good-bye to your wishes before His Command.

Prophet Salih (peace be upon him) caused to understand also the same to his folk, but they replied: O Salih (peace be upon him)! We were very hopeful from you. We considered that you are a wise person, will earn much wealth and will be addicted to pleasure. But you went beyond the bounds. You have been prepared to efface an old tradition, which was being followed by our forefathers since long. How can we believe in you, leave our lords and worship only One God?

Quran Chapter 11-61 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1390) - درس قرآن

There is no God save Allah

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

61.  And unto (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah, ye have no other God save Him. He brought you forth from the earth and hath made you dwell in it, so ask forgiveness of Him then turn unto Him repentant. Lo! my Lord is Nigh, Responsive.
61.  Wa  ‘ilaa  Samuuda  ‘akhaa-hum  Saa-lihaa.  Qaala  yaa-qaw-mi’-budUllaaha  maa  lakum-min  ‘ilaahin  gayruh.  Huwa  ‘ansha-‘akum-minal-‘arzi  wasta’-marakum  fiihaa  fastag-fi-ruuHu  summa  tuubuuu  ‘ilayH.  ‘Inna  Rabbii  Qariibum-Mujiib.

Commentary

‘Ansha-‘a – (He brought you forth), it is past tense, origin of which is nasha-‘un, it means “to grow, to germinate, to rise, to set in”. ‘In-shaa-‘un means “to cause to grow, to raise, to bring into being”.

‘Ista’-mara – (settled, made a place habitable and populous, colonized), it is also past tense from the word ‘isti’-maara. Origin of this word is ‘amrun, which means “to inhabit, to dwell, to be peopled. ‘Ista’maara has been derived from the same word. ‘Ista’-mara means “made you dwell in the villages and taught you “how to live altogether, co-operating with one another”.

From the people of Thamud, Allah Almighty appointed Salih (peace be upon him) as His Prophet. He (peace be upon him) said to the people of his tribe: there should be no Worshipped (God) of you save Allah Almighty. He is, Who brought you forth from the particles of the earth. Then you should ask forgiveness of Him and turn unto Him in all matters. He is Lord of mine and yours, is the Nearest, hears of every individual and Replies properly.

Command of froward potentate

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

   وَتِلْكَ عَادٌ جَحَدُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْا۟ رُسُلَهُۥوَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ (59)

59.  And such were ‘Aad, they denied the Revelations of their Lord and flouted His Messengers and followed the command of every froward potentate.

60.  And a curse was made to follow them in the world and on the Day of Resurrection. Beware! ‘Aad disbelieved in their Lord. Beware! A far removal for ‘Aad, the folk of Huud.
59.  Wa  tilka  ‘Aadun,  jaha-duu  bi- ‘Aayaati-  Rabbi-him  wa  ‘asaw  Rusula-Huu  wattaba-‘uuu  ‘amra  kulli  jabbaarin  ‘aniid.

Commentary

They never reach the prosperity; who turn away from The Cherisher of the world (Allah Almighty). If the mankind does not know Him during his present life, then his all good deeds are useless. Behold the nation of Aad! The ruins of their towns have been lying before you. They had much pride on their physical strength and used to give self airs to their senses. They used to do all works but deny their Lord and the Lord of the entire universe. They did neither care the Sayings of the Messengers (peace be upon them) and nor obey Their commands. However, they used to honor the strong, proud, froward and the oppressive people. They used to treat such people most cordially.

Eventually, their end was worst. Allah Almighty overwhelmed them by the torment of dust-storm. Their entire boasting was disgraced. Every thing was kept back but they fell on the ground by turning to and fro with pressure of the wind-storm; after flying like straws of the grass. The pressure of the wind broke their bodies into pieces. They were removed away from the Mercy of Allah Almighty and were hunted by His wrath. They had to know their Lord and bow before Him, but they walked affectedly. Allah Almighty ordered: Go away, be repelled from the world and be deprived of the Paradise also in the Hereafter.

For the tribe of Aad; a harsh doom - Quran Chapter 11-58 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1388) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 11-58 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1388) - درس قرآن

For the tribe of Aad; a harsh doom

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

وَلَمَّا جَآءَأَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا هُودًا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ (58

58.  And when Our commandment came to pass We saved Huud and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us; and We saved them from a harsh doom.
58.  Wa  lammaa  jaaa-‘a  ‘amru-Naa  naj-jayNaa  Huudanw-walla-ziina  ‘aamanuu  ma-‘ahuu  bi-Rahmatim-minNaa.  Wa  najjay-Naahum-min  ‘azaabin  galiiz.

Commentary

Galiiz – (harsh), this word is an adjective, which has been derived from ga-la-za. The word galaazat is also from the same; which means “heaviness, burden”. Galiiz means “such thing; lifting of which is difficult and seeing of which is unpleasant”.

According to command and arrangement of Allah Almighty, natural accidents happen usually in the world. Causes and times are fixed for them. In the divisions of rivers and seas, coming of floods and water storms etc. is not strange. In the dry areas, dust storms and violent winds blow ordinarily. In the mountain areas, earthquakes come frequently. During the presence of Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them), any of those disasters become source of torment for their enemies and disbelievers, whereas they and their believers are defended.

Area of Aad was dry near the desert. For them dust-storm became source of doom. Prophet Huud (peace be upon him) and his believers were saved, but remaining people flew by wind-storm and unendurable sudden blasts, fell and were ruined. Allah Almighty saved Huud (peace be upon him) along with those who had faith in Him with His mercy from a very severe doom. Otherwise, there was no-one who might be saved by his own planning from the doom of Allah Almighty.

No-one can injure God Almighty - Quran Chapter 11-57 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1387) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 11-57 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1387) - درس قرآن

No-one can injure God Almighty

Surah Huud (Hud) - 11

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟فَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُم مَّآ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَيْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ رَبِّى قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُۥ شَيْـًٔا إِنَّ رَبِّى عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَفِيظٌ (57

57.  And if ye turn away, still I have conveyed unto you that wherewith I was sent unto you, and my Lord will set in place of you a folk other than you and ye cannot injure Him at all. Lo! My Lord is Guardian over all things.
57.  Fa-‘in  ta-wallaw  faqad  ‘ablag-tukum-maaa  ‘ursil-tu  bihiii  ‘ilay-kum.  Wa  yas-takh-lifu  Rabbii  qaw-man  gay-ra-kum.  Wa  laa  tazur-ruunaHuu  shay-‘aa.  ‘Inna  Rabbii  ‘alaa  kulli  shay-‘in  Hafiiz.

Commentary

Ta-wallaw – (you will turn away), this word is from ta-wallii. Actual form of it is tata-wallawna. First ta is left in speaking, and na from its end has been dropped due the ‘in, used before this word. Tawallaa means “to turn away”. It has many other meanings also, however, here it aims the same. This word has been used earlier too.

Yas-takh-lifu – (will set in place of you), it is from ‘is-takh-laafa, which has been derived from khalafa. Khalafa means locum-tenens, substitute, one who succeeds another or temporarily acts for another. The word khaliifah, which has also the same meaning, has come out from it too. ‘Is-takh-laafa means “to appoint someone else at one’s appointment”.

Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) said to his nation: If you will not refrain from your wicked deeds and turn away from Allah Almighty, then there is no incorrectness of mine. You will be settled with punishment. I have caused to hear you that Message, wherewith I was sent by God Almighty unto you. Your manners are wrong, so I fear that you will be removed from the world and Allah Almighty will set in place of you another folk. You cannot harm Him, but will harm yourselves. He is Guardian of all things; and certainly will arrange to protect us. His obedient servants suffer no injury, but the disobedient are crushed. Alas! You do not fear from the wrath of such Omnipotent and Powerful. Your hobbies of day and night are of such kind, which are not liked by Him. It seems that adversity has been hovering over your heads.

Commentary

Kii-duu – (Circumvent!), it is word of command from kayd. Kayd means “trick, to kill, to molest, to attack”.

Prophet Huud (peace be upon him) judged through hearing the conversation of his nation that they would never believe but oppose. Therefore, He (peace be upon him) considered necessary to tell about the support of Allah Almighty and said to His nation: you can never harm me. I say to you openly by calling Allah Almighty as a witness. Hear by opening your ears that I put off your idols which are totally helpless and about which you consider that those are your worshipped, you have abandoned Allah Almighty; Who is real Worshipped. Now you all should use continuously your tricks collectively. I am not afraid of you. I have faith and trust in Allah Almighty. He is my Lord, not only of mine but He is Lord of yours also, whether you understand it or otherwise. It does not depend on me and you, living creatures of all kinds are in His Possession. He has full power over all things. He has fixed a Straight Path for His servants, whosoever will seek, will find It. His Mercy will surround him from all sides. Then no-one will be able to harm him.
