Defaming the Messenger in the matter of the alms

Lesson # 1099 from Holy Qur-’aan

Defaming the Messenger in the matter of the alms

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verses – 58 & 59 of 129, Section – 7 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

58.  And of them are those who defameth thee in the matter of the alms. So if they are given thereof they are content, and if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged.

59.  (How much more seemly) had they been pleased with that which Allah and His Messenger had given them and had said: Allah sufficeth us, Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger and unto Allah we are suppliants.
58.  Wa  minhum  many-yal-mizuka  fis-sadaqaat.  Fa-‘in  ‘u’-tuu  minhaa  razuu  wa  ‘illam  yu’-taw  minhaaa  ‘izaa hum  yas-khatuun.

59.  Wa  law  ‘anna-hum  razuu  maa  ‘aataa-humUllaahu  wa  Rasuulu-Huu  wa  qaaluu  hasbu-nAllaahu  sa-yu’-tii-nAllaahu  min-  fazli-Hii  wa  Rasuulu-Huuu,  ‘innaaa  ‘ilAllaahi  raagi-buun.

Lesson

Yal-mizu – (they defame, reproach), this word is from lam-zun, which means “to stick any pointed thing in”, it also means “to find faults in other’s work, to resolve on mischief, taunting and slandering etc.”

One more habit of the selfish Hypocrites has been described in these verses. It was told in the previous verses that: They have to flatter you for the purpose that; lest you know not their actual condition, otherwise they will live nowhere. If they find any other place for hiding themselves, they will lurk immediately, turning away from you. After that, their other habit has been disclosed here.

It is commanded that when Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) distributes alms, they say: He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) gives to them only who are His own (companions and relatives etc.), and does not bear equal to all in mind.

But if they are given according to their will, then they are content, if not given, then again they begin to tell the same lies. It was better for them if they had trust in God Almighty and in the justice of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him); and had been content on that whatever was given to them. But they are at a great distance from it.

Magnificence of the Believers is very higher than their imagination. They are seekers of God’s willingness in all conditions and are inclined to Him only, and they remain content by accepting the grant of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) happily.
