Relying upon oath of Satan by Adam was natural

Lesson # 833 from the Noble Quran

Relying upon oath of Satan by Adam was natural

Surah ‘A’-‘RAAF (The Heights) – Chapter – 7)
Stage – 2, Verse –22b of 206, Section – 2 of 24 (Part - 8)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

So when they tasted of the tree their shame was manifest to them and they began to hide (by heaping) on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden. And their Lord called them, (saying): Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan is an open enemy to you?
Falammaa  zaaqash-shajarata  badat  lahumaa  saw-‘aatu-humaa  wa  tafiqaa  yakh-sifaani  ‘alay-himaa  minw-waraqil-Jannah.  Wa  naadaa-humaa  Rabbu-humaaa  ‘alam  ‘anha-kumaa  ‘an-tilkumash-shajarati  wa  ‘aqul-lakumaaa  ‘innash-Shaytaana  lakumaa  ‘aduw-wum-mubiin.

Lesson
Tafiqaa  yakh-sifaani – { began to hide (by heaping)}, the word “Yakh-sifaan” has been derived from khasaf, which means “to connect, to assemble together”. The Arabic word tafiqaa is usually used as we use the word “began to”.

Prophet Adam and His wife Eve (peace be upon Them) were deceived by the Devil’s oath and they tasted some fruit of that tree, which was forbidden for them by Allah Almighty. Consequently, the dress of Jannah (Garden) disappeared from their bodies and now they were naked in front of each other.

At this stage, they began to hide their bodies by connecting the leaves of the trees of the Garden being ashamed before each other. Their condition, as it was before tasting the fruit of forbidden tree, was changed. A great change had come also in their feelings. Certainly they would have thought: What we were and what have we become?

In such condition, the shame, the regret and the wonder would have attacked suddenly on their hearts. At the spot, they listened to the Sound of their Lord (Allah Almighty): Why are you standing like ghosts now? Did I not forbid you to go nigh this tree? Did I not tell you openly that this Iblis is your open enemy? He can never be of your friends or real supporter. He will come unto you with different new forms, but His actual plan will be always to deceive you so that you should obey His commands.

Adam and Eve (peace be upon Them) were not infants when they were born. They had full height, were completely intellectual and physically powerful mankind. But they were totally unaware of deceit, forgery, imposture and fraud. If the Devil had not denied falling prostrate before Adam (peace be upon Him), the mankind would have remained forever pure and clean, simple, sinless and righteous human being. In such circumstances, they would have lived in the atmosphere of Gardens, wearing the Light clothing of that place, walking and strolling, eating and drinking.

Obviously, when any person is genuine with clean heart, pure and chaste, then surely, he cannot recognize any other person fraudulent, mischievous and cheat. First of all, Iblis was never fraudulent and disbeliever. He was degraded because of His pride and then He made up His mind to be enemy of the mankind. The enmity is such a curse, which causes to learn everything to humiliate the enemy.

In such condition, relying upon the saying and oath of the Devil by Adam and His wife Eve (peace be upon Them) was natural. It should be understood from this statement that the mankind himself is simple, honest and believer. But whenever he goes astray, that is a wicked deed of any other person, who seduced him. Therefore, the human beings are indigent of the Guidance of Allah Almighty.
