Lesson
Lessons of Suratul – ‘An-‘aam ended by the Grace of Allah
Almighty, but in fact, its ending should be taken as beginning to think into
its guidelines, and understanding the commands revealed in it, which is the
best source of instilling the object of Islam. Its last verse is an ocean of
sciences, out of which, the divers will be bringing out the precious pearls.
Some more advices have been caused to engage the attention as under. All
the subjects of this Chapter will be obvious by keeping them under
consideration and it will be helpful to understand Islam, if Allah Almighty
wills:
1. The name of
this Surah is ‘An-‘aam, which means “Cattle”. The cattle is useful for burdening and other
necessities of the human being, for example; it provides meat and milk, used
for food and drinking, wool to escape from the cold weather etc. the entire
cattle are servants of the humankind and he takes work from them as he wishes. Likewise,
grains, vegetables, fruit and flowers etc. all these things have been produced
for the human being, which are used up for eating, drinking, making clothes
etc. After mentioning all these things in the Chapter, lastly, it is described:
the mankind is higher in rank and excellent in creation than all.
2. Mankind is a Caliph of
Allah Almighty in the earth. It is such a proclamation, due to which a mankind
gets knowledge about himself. He should know that Allah Almighty has entrusted
His work separately to every person giving him a particular power. That is to
say; every individual is a government servant. You would have observed in the
world: How much higher in rank, a government servant considers himself, than
others? He does never bow his head before any other person, and desires own
respect from the entire people. Similarly, every individual should have
perception of his own respect and honor, which he gains due to being servant of
the Highest Government, his Owner and Master i.e. slave of Allah Almighty. From
here, the lesson of human equality is learned. All the people are slaves of One
Master. In this sense, none has any superiority over any other. From it,
perception of self-respect grows into every person.
3. In the slavery of
Allah Almighty, (as per Persian which is called “Bandgii and as per
Arabic language is ‘ibaadat”) the entire human beings are equal. Neither
is anyone elder, nor little because of nation, country, caste, dynasty, family
or tribe, but it is evident that abilities and strength of all of them are not
equal. Their alls’ Mental and physical strengths are separate and different
from one another, but that strength or power, which anyone has, has been given
by Allah Almighty. And the reason of fluctuation in the strength of everyone (more
or less, decrease or increase) is that every person is being tested separately
and individually.
The method of test is that a prescribed Way has been fixed for the
entire human beings, and its marks of the path, signs and tokens have been
spread everywhere in the world. Then the human beings have been caused to
understand too by sending the Scriptures through the Messengers (peace be upon
Them) from time to time. The Callers towards this Path exist on every step also
and those too, who misguide. Every mankind is capable commonly to know both
kinds of them. And then, there are some particular powers, which exist more in
some people and less in some.
It is duty of every human being that he/she should either go on that (straight) Path by
searching and recognizing by own sense or should remain near to it as close as it
may be possible. The people should spend their entire powers in search of and
going the Straight Path.
