Allah bestows provision on whom He desire - Quran Chapter 16 – 75 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1741) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 16  75 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1741) درس قرآن

Allah bestows provision on whom He desire

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

75.  Allah coineth a similitude: (on the one hand) a (mere) chattel slave, who hath control of nothing, and (on the other hand) one on whom We have bestowed a fair provision from Us, and he spendeth thereof secretly and openly. Are they equal? Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not.
75.  ZarabAllaahu  Masalan  ‘abdam-mamluukal-laa  yaqdiru  ‘alaa  shay-‘inw-wa  mar-razaq-Naahu  minnaa  rizqan  hasanan-  fahuwa  yun-fiqu  minhu  sirranw-wa  jahraa.  Hal  yasta-wuun.  ‘Al-Hamdu  Lillaah.  Bal  ‘aksaruhum  laa  ya’-lamuun.

Commentary

Let’s consider an example: Behold! On one side there is such person who is destitute of someone else in all matters. He is a slave who can neither do any work without permission of his master and nor take any thing. On the other side there is a man who is owner of wealth and property, and with the kindness of Allah Almighty; he possesses everything in abundance. He does not need any permission from any other for spending. He spends day and night secretly and openly according to his will. There is no one who may hinder him from any work.

Describe now! Whether these both persons (the slave and the owner) can be equal of each other in any matter? Then you should meditate in it that Allah Almighty Who is the Owner of the entire excellence, is not needy of any other. Wealth and treasures of the entire universe are in His possession. He is Able to do what He desires and command what He wishes. Can anything of the world be equal of Him? The biggest and most excellent thing of the world is helpless and incapable before Him. Then how can any one be His partner and sharer in His Divinity? It is the last stage of ignorance that you ascribe the lifeless and self-fabricated idols of mud and stone as partners and opposites of Him. And you say: Allah Almighty cannot do any work without them (Let us flee to Allah). Even then maximum people either do not know or feign ignorance knowingly.

Commentary

In these verses, it is being informed about the enemies of the sense (Idolaters) that they reap full advantages from the Graces of God Almighty; even then they do not accept Him as their Real Benefactor. They attribute other things equal to Him which cannot give them anything. Neither can they cause to rain from the sky so that grains may be produced for eating and water for drinking, and nor they have any power to cause to grow something from the earth.

If you take flight from others then you will know that even then it rains from the sky and the grains grow from the earth (only God is Who causes to rain from the sky in time and produces grains from the land), from which it appears that neither those things are able to provide provision for mankind and nor will they be able ever to do so.

Therefore, you should turn unto Him; leaving all of them and know His Omnipotence. For this purpose, you seek the similitudes of the worldly kings. As you say that “Allah Almighty is like a great king and we cannot reach Him without means of idols and ancestors”, it is ignorance. Epithets of Allah Almighty are the same which He has described. He knows everything but you are unaware.

Commentary

Hafadatun – (grandsons), this word is plural of haafid, which is a Subject from hafad. Hafad means “to go forth for serving”. In DUA QUNUUT (Supplication for Obedience to God – which is recited in the last Rak-‘at of Salaati Witr), a word “Nahfidu” has been used, which means “we run unto Thou (God) for obeying Thy Command”. Haafid is the person who presents himself immediately for service. Slaves, servants, relatives, sons-in-law and grandsons etc. (all such people) have been included in it. Meaning of the word Hafiidun is also the same.

Allah Almighty commands: We produced you and gave you wives of your own kind, so that you both become a couple (she should become a life partner of you) and the children be born from her womb. Consequently, there should be your many helpers, relatives, sons and grandsons around you. Then We produced abundant pure, neat and clean things for eating and drinking to keep up your life, so that all works of your life run smoothly.

Obviously, while this system of supporting the mankind’s personal life has not been arranged by any other than Allah Almighty, then why do you ascribe others as partners of Him Who provided you all such things? You forgot Him and began to worship those who gave you nothing. It is extremely thanklessness.

Commentary

Rizqin – (provision), this word has passed at various places. All such things are included in it which are useful for mankind i.e. health and safety, knowledge and skills, prosperity, wealth and property etc.

It has been caused to understand in this verse: After admitting that all creatures have been created by Allah Almighty, are under His possession; and slaves of Him, this question does not arise that those can be equal to Him.

Think yourself: Can you accept that your slaves should be equal to you in any matter? You are superior to them in wealth and property, power and dignity. Being your slaves, can they be equal to you? Or can you give them as much wealth and property etc. from yours with your free-will and pleasure that they may become equal to you, even then they should remain your slaves? Can you not understand from it that any creature can never go out from the slavery and humility of Allah Almighty? How can you determine someone or something equal to Him after accepting this entire? This difference of dignities, which Allah Almighty has established among you, is a favor of Him. Is it not a strange thing that due to this blessing of God Almighty, you consider yourselves superior to your slaves, whereas you attribute the slaves of Allah Almighty equal to Him?

Commentary

In this verse, it has been described to the mankind that one should meditate also into the condition of oneself. There are many great portents in the mankind for knowing Allah Almighty. It is commanded: Who did create you; is Allah Almighty. After creating you still He is Powerful over you in all conditions. You are in obedience of His Command. It is not in your control to go out of His Command. Hence the age of whosoever from you will go to end, He will cause him to die. Some will be such people who will live long and reach such stage of life; in which the mankind becomes good for nothing. Parts of his body do not work properly. Power of thinking and understanding decreases, and he forgets entire acquired knowledge gradually, even that every learnt thing has been forgotten. These all are wonders of Allah Almighty. As He wished, made it, and formed according to His Will. He knows everything and has full power over everything. As He is Able to control every individual, just like this He is Omnipotent over your folks and groups. The same law has been working everywhere that the things are created and after completion of their life, they are finished. Some are such living things and people which live but in worse condition being powerless. These entire are portents of the Omnipotence of Allah Almighty.

Commentary

It was described in the verses of previous lesson that in the nature of the Bee; Allah Almighty has included by His Philosophy and Omnipotence that it should build dwelling place for itself in thatches at height, mountains, trees and high roofs. And according to a particular system, it should ramble all around satisfactorily.

Here it has been commanded that as the milk is prepared into the bellies of the cattle, like this; the Bee makes honey after eating nice portion of every fruit and sweetmeat, which is a very tasteful and pleasant thing and wherein is healing for mankind in various diseases. Those people who use the honey, reap advantages, whereas those who reflect in it; observe a particular reflection of Divine Power. And at last, they reach the consequence that they should engage themselves in obedience of Allah Almighty after admitting His Omnipotence.

The people, vision of whom is unable to reach Allah Almighty even after looking the wonders of His Omnipotence, but it remains limited up to the things themselves only, and they have been engaged in reaping advantages being selfish, and instead of it that they should admit the rights of all human beings; they wish to fill own bellies themselves, what can be said for such people save it that they are niggard, poor-spirited and fallen down from the humanity.

Commentary

ya’-rishuuna – (they thatch), origin of this word is ‘arsh, which means “the thing elevated (a roof) or to raise up”.

Zululan- (made easy and smooth), this word is plural of zaluulun, which is an adjective. Zullun means “softness, easy, simple”. Zaluulun means “so soft that there is no hardness or difficulty in it”. It is also an adjective which can be used equally for masculine and feminine (both).

It is commanded that your Lord has included in the nature of Nahl (the Bee) that it should make dwelling place for itself always in the hills, higher trees or abodes at height and thatches. And it should suck sweetness and juice from palatable fruits, flavor from flowers, and then return to its self-fabricated house. And there, all members of the Bee family should prepare honey according to the strange system.

Allah Almighty has appointed the Bee to prepare a very delicious and pure thing for mankind’s drinking. There is itself a lesson for human beings in this verse that the members of the Bee family strive collectively in their work in accordance with a regular law and build a very guarded house with skill.

Commentary

Sakara – (strong drink), sakaran means senselessness, but here it aims such thing; by which animate beings become senseless i.e. wine, spirituous liquors, alcohol etc.

It has been mentioned in this verse that fruit of the date-palm, grapes and other fruits like them have been produced for you, out of which you prepare the things of your necessity and rejoicing. Some things from those are good for you but some are injurious. For example, you prepare strong drink from the fruit of date-palm and grapes, whereas there is harm in it for you. Moreover, you acquire vinegar, dried dates and currants, which are good and useful for you. These all things have been created for you by Allah Almighty and He has given you sense and strength, so that you should use them, take good things and be saved from injurious things.

Most important work which you have to take from your sense is that by looking these things and reflecting into their rules and system, you should know their Creator. And you should be thankful to Him on His bestowed favors. You should use these things as He has commanded and be ready to escape from such things and matters which He has forbidden by means of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Certainly the sense of the mankind is able to know Allah Almighty by observing these portents.

Commentary

Saaa-‘igan – (palatable), this word is a Subject from sawgun. Sawgun means “getting down of anything in the throat easily and gently, for which it is necessary that it should be delicious and tasteful.

It has been commanded in this verse that besides the produce of the land, necessities of your life have been produced from the cattle also. Behold! Whatsoever they (the cattle) eat, that is changed into the form of three things (by the parts working inside the body, when it goes into their bellies).

·       Its one form is “dung, manure, excrement” etc. which is thrown out.

·       Second form is blood which maintains their life.

·       From the middle of above both things, a third thing is produced which is called “Milk”. It is pure from the stenches and tastelessness etc. It is a clean, beautiful and palatable thing, which is a food; gets in the belly easily, and the people drink by enjoying its full taste. From the remaining milk, it is useful also for preparing butter, curd, diluted milk and cheese etc. which are very strong and delicious diets. The strength which cannot be acquired from grains, vegetables and fruit etc. can be produced by means of the milk, so that no deficiency should remain in the growth of human body.

Commentary

Holy Qur’an is Guidance as well as a source of comfort and relief too, only for such people who believe in it. It aims that the Word of God Almighty purifies the life of the mankind from all kinds of quarreling and provides such peace and satisfaction to the heart, which can neither be acquired by wealth, rank and grandeur, and nor the so-called science can provide it.

This is the Mercy and Bounty, which cannot be taken from anywhere save Holy Qur’an. Likeness of it is as – the productive rain; by which barren land becomes fertile and dry crops begin to flourish. The same has been mentioned in this verse that if you desire to understand the influence of Holy Qur’an then you should reflect in the productive rain.

When Allah Almighty causes to rain from the sky, the dead land gets living. Greenness and fields begin to bloom. Abundant goods of eating and drinking are produced for human beings and other living creatures. If by looking all of them, you will meditate into them, you will find that by Holy Qur’an, dead souls are revived in the same way. Chaste passions begin to arise in the heart. Blows of good winds keep the life and the heart fresh every time. Waves of pleasure run into the body and the soul.
