Quran Chapter 15  13 to 15 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1659درس قرآن

Example of the men of old

Surah ‘Al-Hijr - (The Rocky Tract) - 15

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

13.  They believe not therein, and the example of the men of old hath gone before.

14.  And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it-

15.  Even then they would say: Our sight is wrong – nay, but we are folk bewitched-  (Section 1)
13.  Laa  yu’-minuuna  bihii  wa  qad  khalat  sunnatul-‘awwaliin.

14.  Wa  law  fatah-Naa  ‘alay-him  baabam-minas-samaaa-‘i  fazalluu  fiihi  ya’-rujuun.

15.  La-qaaluuu  ‘innamaa  sukki-rat  ‘absaaru-naa  bal  nahnu  qawmum-mas-huuruun.

Commentary

Zalluu – {(if), they work during daylight}, this word has been derived from zalaal, which means “to do any work in the day time” as bayaat means “to do any work at night”.

Sukki-rat – (have been stopped), it is past passive voice from the word taskiir, which has come out from sa-ka-ra. Sakara means prevention. Taskiir means “to stop, to prevent, to fix on”.

It is commanded: As the old people could not believe in the Messengers (peace be upon them) due to being entangled in the wrangling and matters of the world, like that, these people will not accept Your {Messenger’s (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)} Sayings. Their misfortune and bad presage of their disbelief; do not let them trust in Allah Almighty, His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Holy Qur’aan. Supposing, if We open a gate of heaven unto them and they keep mounting the entire day by means of it, even then they will say: Our sight has been bound. It is the reason that we have been looking ourselves mounting over and over unto the sky. Nay, but we have been charmed vigorously. It is the effect of witchcraft that we have lost our senses and begun to see quite different.
