Deliverance from
misfortune
Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)
BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the
Beneficent, the Merciful
22. He it is Who maketh you to
go on the land and the sea till, when ye are in the ships and they sail with
them with a fair breeze and they are glad therein, a storm-wind reacheth them
and the wave cometh unto them from every side and they deem that they are
over whelmed therein; (then) they cry unto Allah, making their Faith pure for
Him only: If Thou deliver us from this, we truly will be of the thankful.

Lesson
Condition of the human being is wonderful. When he
is in calamity, cries unto Allah Almighty, but as soon as the misfortune gets
out of the way, he forgets. The same behavior of the mankind has been described
in this verse and in the next one, and he has been warned due to such conduct.
It is commanded: It is Allah Almighty Who gave you
so much power that you go on the land and the sea for taking the air. During
the tour in boats, if the air is pleasant, the people are glad, there are very few
people who remember their Lord at such time. But when any storm of wind or rain
comes and very fast waves like a mountain reach them from all directions then
they deem that they have been overwhelmed.
In such condition, they remember only Allah Almighty,
believe in Him purely and cry unto Him with true heart in these words: Our Lord!
Save us from this misfortune. We promise that we shall be thankful and obedient
servants to You always.
