29.  And say: My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for Thou art Best of all who bring to land.

30.  Lo! Herein verily are Portents, and lo! We are ever putting (mankind) to the test.
29.  Wa  qur-Rabbi  ‘anzilnii  munzalam-mubaarakanw-wa  ‘anTa  Khayrul-Munziliin.

30.  ‘Inna  fii  zaalika  la-‘Aayaa-tinw-wa  ‘in  kunnaa  la-mubtaliin.

Commentary

Munzilun – (to cause to land, to bring down), this word has been derived from ‘inzaalun, which means “causing to go down”. Origin of this word is nazlun, which means “to descend”. Nazlah is also from the same origin which means “catarrh”. ‘Inzaalun means “to cause to land”. The word “‘Anzil” is a word of command from the same and munzilun (That Who brings to land) is the Subject, plural of which is munziliin.

It is being commanded to Noah (peace be upon him): When you are on board the ship, then you should say: Praise be to Allaah Almighty, Who saved us from the wrongdoers and violent people. Then you should pray in these words: My Lord! Cause us to land at a dry and blessed landing-place in well condition. There can be none better than You who may arrange for our welfare. Keep us safe and sound in the ship till we have to live on board, and cause us to disembark without any trouble and burden when the time of our disembarkation comes.

Allaah Almighty is Who taught this supplication to Noah (peace be upon him) and then accepted it with His mercy. Neither those people were put in any trouble during their stay on the ship and nor they felt any difficulty at the time of disembarkation.

Then it is commanded: There are many portents for the hearers of this story. By describing such portents, We test other people also that who from them chooses the Right Path after acquiring advice from them and who disregards them.
