Commentary

It is commanded that when it rains, the earth is filled with various kinds of vegetations, grass and plants. There are abundant fruits in those vegetations, herbs and plants for you, which you eat for reveling and amusement. And among them there are grains and corn also, which you use as food. Behold! There is a tree from them, which grows abundant in Mount Sinai; that is “an olive tree”. It contains a kind of oil, which is used as curry to eat bread and relish for the eaters. And this oil is used also for rubbing on head and body.

There is mention of the tree of olive particularly here because in which country it grows, there are many usages of this tree in that country, and more or less, its benefits are the same as in which part of the earth; the trees of cocoanut exist. Like this, there is any such tree in every country, from which the inhabitants of that country reap several advantages. Its immature fruit is eaten also as a fruit. Cords are prepared from its fibre. From dried fruit, the oil is drawn.

It is being described to the mankind that Allaah Almighty created flower and fruit, grain and corn, grass and herb, trees, plants and many other things for him. If the mankind reflect, he will believe in Allaah Almighty immediately and be thankful to Him.

It is an open Truth that there is no one save Allaah Almighty who may produce these things from the earth. Like this, those people who meditate, can see the Signs of the Power of Allaah Almighty in the cattle and other animals also.
