Quran Chapter 16  111 & 112 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1769) درس قرآن

People will not be wronged after death

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

111.  On the Day when every soul will come pleading for itself, and every soul will be repaid what it did, and they will not be wronged.

112.  And Allah coineth a similitude: a township that dwelt secure and well content, its provision coming to it in abundance from every side, but it disbelieved in Allah’s favors, so Allah made it experience the garb of dearth and fear because of what they used to do.
111.  Yawma  ta’-tii  kullu  nafsin  tujaadilu  ‘an-nafsihaa  wa  tuwaffaa  kullu  nafsim-maa  ‘amilat  wa  hum  laa  yuzlamuun.

Commentary

‘Azaaqa – (made it experience, caused to taste), it is past tense from the word ‘izaaqatun, which has been derived from zawq. Zawq means “to taste the deliciousness, to experience”. According to phraseology it aims “to be involved in any such condition that its effect is perceived in the heart”. The word ‘azaaqa is its active verb, so it will be meant “to cause to taste”.

In the first verse of this lesson, it is commanded: Remember! Such a Day will come soon when every individual will be involved in own misfortune and to save his life from the trouble, he will say different words at different times. But he will deserve only that which he earned during his life of this world (requital of good or evil deeds).

In the second verse, people of Makkah are being caused to understand: Imagine about that township where Rule of Peace and Security was in force by the Grace of God Almighty. Provision for eating and drinking was available. Then people of that township became as much arrogant that they did never think about their Creator and followed madly their wishes. Allah Almighty caused to taste them retribution of their arrogance. Therefore, famine and fear surrounded them from all around.

Commentary

Allah, The Most High commands that while they care for the world as much that their eyes do not rise up from it, then what will they find in the Hereafter? They can find there nothing but loss. The people of Makkah oppressed the Muslims in the beginning as much that by reading their circumstances one shudders even today. To such extent that some people were killed too, out of which; one was an old man named Yasir and his wife named Sumayyah (May Allah be pleased with them). One day; Abu Jahl tied hands and feet of Yasir (May Allah be pleased with him) with four young camels and drove them. So due to being separate of hands and feet from the body; He (May Allah be pleased with him) fluttered and became a martyr.

Then he (Abu Jahl) stuck his spear into the womb of Sumayyah (May Allah be pleased with her) and she was martyred also. These both persons were first martyrs of Islam. But their son said such word to save his life which was objectionable. Moreover, heartily he (May Allah be pleased with him) was a strong believer. Later on, while he was weeping; he was at the service of God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

About him (May Allah be pleased with him), this verse was revealed that “denying Islam by tongue to save oneself from deadly misfortunes but having strong belief in the heart, becoming fugitive for the cause of religion and leaving home land, fighting for saving Islam along with other Muslims and standing steadfast on the religion with patience and stability”, after these entire matters, Allah Almighty will forgive your previous slipping and errors, because He is indeed Forgiving and Merciful.

Commentary

It is commanded that one thing is common among all these people, which becomes cause of their infidelity, disbelief and renouncing of the religion Islam. Importance and love of the life of this world have settled in their hearts. They do not believe in the Hereafter. They say: Sitting vain on the hope of the Hereafter, by leaving pleasures, luxurious enjoyments, ease and comfort of this world, wasting wealth and property, strength and power, pomp and dignity or trying not to get these things in case of non availability, is contrary to reason.

When any human being is stuck in this circle, then he disbelieves in Allah Almighty and his evil days do not let him reap advantage from the Guidance of God Almighty. Neither hearts, ears and eyes of such people meditate in the Revelations of Allah Almighty, nor hear and nor see Them.

After that the Law; set by Allah Almighty shows its effect and bad presage of their wicked deeds besieges and seizes their entire powers. Thus Allah Almighty seals their hearts, ears and eyes, so that no good thing may enter into them. The Truth passes through their hearts but they do not turn towards care. Voice of truth is heard by their ears. Tokens of Allah Almighty come before their eyes, but they remain busy in some other inclination instead of turning their attention towards the right matter.

Commentary

The Disbelievers used to say to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): You have invented the Qur’an yourself. Allah Almighty commands: Only those people tell a lie who do not believe after looking the Tokens of Allah Almighty. Then it is commanded: Besides these people, there are some such people also who returned after having belief and disbelieved. Out of them, the person who is forced to say the word of infidelity for saving his life, but if his heart is still content with the Belief, he is pardonable. But the person who became renegade heartily after believing and verily he returned from Islam, then there is no one greater treacherous than him. Wrath from Allah Almighty is on such people and an awful doom is ready for them. Punishment of the renegade has been fixed in the world, which has been described in Suratul-Maaa-‘idah (Chapter -5).

The people who do not disbelieve after their belief even apparently for saving their life, their status is very high, for example – Bilal and Yasir etc. (May Allah be pleased with them).

103.  And We know well that they say: Only a man teacheth him. The speech of him at whom they falsely hint is outlandish, and this is clear Arabic speech.

104.  Lo! Those who disbelieve the Revelations of Allah, Allah guideth them not and theirs will be a painful doom.

104.  ‘Innallaziina  laa yu-minuuna  bi-‘Ayayaa-Tillaahi,  laa yahdii-himUllaahu  wa  lahum  ‘Azaabun-  ‘aliim.

Commentary

Yulhiduuna – (they falsely hint), this word has come out from ‘ilhaad, origin of which is lahada. Lahad means “place of dwelling”. ‘Ilhaad means “to incline to any thing, searching for an abode, to dispose of”. Here; it aims “to say something in hints”, that is to say; naming not clearly, but making signals for informing about own point of view.

It is commanded: We know that these people say about a man that he invents Qur’an and teaches it to the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), whose even language is not Arabic. Saying about such individual that he can prepare a written Book like Holy Qur’an in such eloquent and polished Arabic style and language, is a consummate foolishness. And such follies happen by those people only who do not know Allah Almighty; even after looking clear Signs of Him. Allah Almighty lets them go astray due to their carelessness. However, on the Day of Resurrection, a very painful doom will be ready for them.

Commentary

Ruuhul-Qudusi – (The Holy Spirit), qudus means “holy, sacred, pure”. Ruuh means “Spirit, soul etc.” It aims “the Angel - Gabriel (peace be upon him)”.

The real fact regarding Holy Qur’an has been manifested in this verse. It is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! This Magnificent Book has been sent down unto you from your Lord, and the Bringer of It is an Angel, who is pure from all kinds of apparent and hidden contaminations and stenches. He (peace be upon him) is free from apparent contamination because He is a Spirit and Soul only. Apparent contamination arises due to the body and is concerning the body only. The Spirit does not have any concern with apparent contamination. The holy Souls are pure also even from the hidden contaminations, for example, telling a lie, deceiving or embezzling etc.

After that, it is commanded: There are three main advantages of sending the Holy Spirit {the Angel (peace be upon him)}:

1.   The hearts of those who believe in Allah Almighty; become strong and are satisfied when they see that the verses are revealed timely according to expedience, that Allah Almighty has been looking their works and He is Aware of their circumstances. He sends commandment according to every occasion at the spot.

2.   From the Revelations, Muslims are known easily in all conditions that what should they do in which situation? First of all; the Command comes clearly that they should do so and so now. Moreover, by participating in the work personally, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) guides that how should they perform.

3.   The Holy Spirit delivers good tidings to the Muslims that good reward will be given to them due to their good works. They will be successful in the world and in addition; they will achieve perpetual comfort and ease also in the Hereafter.

Commentary

About such people; it has been mentioned in this verse; upon whom, Satan has gotten an opportunity, and they are debarred from the support of Allah Almighty and His specific kindness. It is commanded that when the people who are separated from good things, are entangled in worldly disputes and have formed a habit of amusing themselves in fun and play of this world, then it should be considered that they have made a friend and companion of Satan.

Satan instructs at first to his followers that they should not believe that Holy Qur’an is the Word of Allah Almighty. Then in the next verse, it has been informed that Satan produces different kinds of doubts in the hearts of the people about Holy Qur’an. He says: Commandments mentioned in Holy Qur’an are changed from time to time. In the beginning, there was no commandment regarding proper time for offering prayer. Then five times prayer was prescribed. At first, the Object of veneration and reverence (Qiblah) was any other, which was changed afterwards. First of all, it was commanded that you should not fight any other. Then it was commanded: Hold up your weapons and fight against opponents.

Allah Almighty commands in this verse: We change Our Commandments when circumstances are changed. For this reason, the people who do not understand the expedience of the time (that what is useful rather than what is just), they begin to say: It is a self-fabricated Word, which can be changed in accordance with own wishes.

Such people are mostly unaware of existing reality.

Believers versus Satan

(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

98.  And when thou recitest the Qur’an, seek refuge in Allah from Satan the Outcast.

99.  Lo! He hath no power over those who believe and put trust in their Lord.
98.  Fa-‘izaa  qara’-tal-Qur-‘aana  fasta-‘iz  Billaahi  minash-Shaytaanir-Rajiim.

99.  ‘Innahuu  laysa  lahuu  sultaanun  ‘alallaziina  ‘aamanuu  wa  ‘alaa  Rabbi-him  yata-wakka-luun.

Commentary

‘Ista-‘iz – (Seek refuge!), it is a word of command from ‘isti-‘aazatun, which has been derived from ‘awz. Meanings of the both words (‘Awz and ‘isti-‘aazatun), are “to seek refuge”. But verbally and heartily, it is recited ‘A-‘uuzu  Billaahi  minash-Shaytaanir-Rajiim (I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the Outcast). The same has been commanded in this verse.

Allah Almighty commands: Satan prevents mankind from heartily reciting Holy Qur’an and reflecting on its meanings because he does not want that human being may acquire Belief and begin to do good works. Therefore, when you begin to recite Noble Qur’an, you should draw your attention unto Allah Almighty and request Him “O Allah! Save me from tricks and ambush of Satan, the outcast”, and say with your tongue also “‘A-‘uuzu  Billaahi  minash-Shaytaanir-Rajiim (I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the Outcast)”. If you will turn your attention unto Him wholeheartedly, put your trust in Him and recite Holy Qur’an by having regard to its meanings, then Satan will not be able to mislead you, because Satan has no power over those who believe, who put their trust in Allah Almighty, who give their entire works in His charge, who ask Him for help and who seek refuge in Him. Otherwise, Satan, the outcast does never miss any chance of mischief. Sometimes, he says: O man! What will you get by reciting Qur’an? Are there not sufficient works to do that you waste your time in it? (Let us flee to God). Sometimes he misguides: It is neither the Word of Allah, nor Allah exists and nor is His any Messenger or Word. (We seek refuge in Allah).

Commentary

La-Nuhyi-yanna – (verily We shall quicken), actually this word is Yuhyii; derived from ‘ihyaa-‘un, which means “to quicken, to give life”. This word has come out from hayaat, which means “life”.

It has been commanded in these verses that the people who have patience in the world and do not fall in worldly enjoyments, plays and amusements like blind insane people, they will be paid a recompense of their good works. And the remuneration of restraining themselves; from stupid wishes of the world; will be great.

Then it is commanded: We have established a rule that the person, whether that is male or female, will do good works after having belief, We shall bestow them a chaste life and give them a recompense in proportion to the best of what they used to do.

In this verse, there is a good and great glad tidings of future reward of virtues that their present life (of the world) will be satisfactory and of peace. And those who will do good works to please God Almighty, they will be paid full recompense also in the Hereafter.
