Light of Divine Inspiration

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

68.  They say: Allah hath taken (unto Him) a son. Glorified be He! He hath no needs! His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. Ye have no warrant for this. Tell ye concerning Allah that which ye know not?
68.  Qaa-lutta-kha-zAllaahu  waladan  Subhaanah.  Huwal-Ganiyy.  Lahuu  maa  fissa-maawaati  wa  maa  fil-‘arz.  ‘In  ‘inda-kum-min  sultaa-nim-  bi-haazaa.  ‘A-taquuluuna  ‘alAllaahi  maa  laa  ta’-lamuun.

Commentary

The natural sense of the human being has not let him satisfied since he has come in this world. At first, his enemies surrounded him from all around as soon as he was born. When he got some rid of them, drew his full attention unto provision and place for residing. When he got some success in these fields, then he began to think: What is this world? Who has created it? Who am I? From where have I come?

In this connection, Creator of the mankind and the world arranged for guidance of his wisdom especially. Allah Almighty sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) chosen from the human beings and by means of Divine Inspiration, He informed Them (peace be upon them) about prescribed duty of the human beings completely.

It is commanded: the people had drawn a mere conjecture, imaginary map about the world separately. Some of them said that it was created by one God, but He was the biggest Guardian of a family and with the help of that family, He had been managing the world. Some people began to say: No! He has sons or daughters, and they arrange collectively altogether.

These entire fancies are absurd and self-fabricated, and believers of such ideas are Idolaters. It is against the Worthy of Allah Almighty because neither He has any descended son and nor adopted any person as His child. He is pure from any wife, son, daughter, partner, supporter or co-sharer in His Sovereignty. He has none who may support Him in the arrangement of the universe.

It is result of the deviation of the sense. As long as it did not gain the Light of Divine Revelation; it used to issue such kind of results. Now, we should annihilate previous imaginations by acquiring correct knowledge from Holy Qur’aan about Allah Almighty.

Recognition of Allah

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

67.  He it is Who hath appointed for you the night that ye should rest therein and the day giving sight. Lo! Herein verily are portents for a folk that heed.
67.  Hu-wallazii  ja-‘ala  laku-mul-layla  li-taskunuu  fiihi  wan-na-haara  mub-siraa.  ‘Inna  fii  zaa-lika  la-‘Aayaatil-li-qaw-miny-yasma-‘uun.

Commentary

It was commanded in the previous verses that “how much universe exists in the heavens and in the earth; that all has been created by Allah Almighty and only He is Owner and Sovereign of it”. Human being thinks wrong if he considers that “these all things are of mine and I can treat them as I wish”. No! There is a system for the entire universe; from which nothing can move hither or thither. A great responsibility has been given to the mankind in this system.

After providing the human being some authority of possession, he has been placed in the centre of the universe, and a firm covenant has been taken from him that: You should never be careless from Allah Almighty and nor be deceived from yourself by observing some power into yourself that “I can take these all things in my possession as I wish”, otherwise you will be entangled badly in such circle, coming out from which will be by death only. But you will not find comfort even after death. As soon as you will die; these things will be changed into the form of a fire, snakes, scorpions and other noxious things. There is only one form of escaping from this misfortune that “one should not set up any relationship with any thing without the Command of Allah Almighty”. If He permits; then you should produce some interest into that thing; use of which is permitted, otherwise you should continue effort to please Allah Almighty; being apart from all things.

It is commanded that which apparent changes you observe in the daily circumstances of the life “you should think for a while that sometime; there is night while sometime day, sometime; there is darkness and sometime sunshine, why is it so and Who does perform it? It is obvious that it all is not without any cause. When the mankind meditated; he found its cause i.e. the entire universe has been turning round. Which part of the earth comes before the sun, the day is therein, whereas which part of the earth is on the opposite side of the sun, there is night. About this matter, there are many opinions, but which mankind surpassed the world of such opinions and believed that “this system has been established by Allah Almighty with His Divine Power and He has commanded that it is a portent for His cognizance”, he reached the field of True Knowledge, and got rid of all kinds of opinions and conjectures.

Guessing and conjecture - Quran Chptr 10-66b (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L–1302)-درس قرآن

Quran Chptr 10-66b (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L–1302)-درس قرآن

Guessing and conjecture

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

66b.  And what do they follow who call on associates beside Allah? They follow only a conjecture, and they do but guess.
66b.  Wa  maa  yattabi-‘ullaziina  yad-‘uuna  min  duu-Nillaahi  shurakaaa’.  ‘Iny-yattabi-‘uuna  ‘illaz-zanna  wa  ‘in  hum  ‘illaa  yakh-rusuun.

Commentary

Yakh-rusuun – (they do guess), this word has been derived from khar-sun. khar-sun means “to say something by guess and conjecturally; which is not indisputable and evident.

It is commanded: Only such persons can call for help to any other than Allah Almighty who have not the real knowledge. Their eyes are dazzled by looking the apparent, and do not let them deliberate on Divine Revelation. But the influence of the Unseen has been spread over everyone as much that they can never remain careless from Him. They have to be confuted of the Unseen at any time.

If at that time, they received the Message of Divine Revelation, that is to say, Holy Qur’aan and Sayings of the Messenger (peace be upon Him) correctly, then in the light of that Knowledge; they acquire correct solution of this problem and are saved from errors. But if they remained deprived of the Light of Divine Revelation, then they went astray, missed the right path and caused to run their thought about the Unseen here and there, which is as shooting an imaginary arrow in the darkness by guess due to deprival from the Light of True Knowledge, but that arrow hits a target which is not such; required to be hit.

For the guidance of mankind, Allah Almighty sent His Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) with His Wisdom, and made their nature as such that they did neither use to trust in the rumors without ascertainment and test, and nor used to form any opinion without proof. When the Message of Allah Almighty came unto those noble Individuals {(Prophets and Messengers) (peace be upon Them)}; and the Angel Gabriel (peace be upon Him) caused to hear them reciting, then before this True and Firm News; national or ancestral superstition, weakness of faith, self-fabricated stories of demi-gods and goddesses, all famous powers of temples – attributes of granting children and fulfilling desires were vitiated, and then eyes of these chosen great persons did not stay on any other solver of difficulties and supplier of the wants than endowment and grant of Allah Almighty. Neither the power of Nimrod could threaten Them (peace be upon Them) and nor terrify sway of Pharaoh, nor fear of hanging could do them silent and nor threat of stoning to death could repel them from the Belief.

Allah is the Hearer, the Knower

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

65.  And let not their speech grieve thee (O Muhammad). Lo! Power belongeth wholly to Allah. He is the Hearer, the Knower.

66a.  Beware! To Allah belongeth whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is in the earth.
65.  Wa  laa  yah-zunka  qaw-luhum.  ‘Innal-‘izzata  Lillaahi  jamii-‘aa.  Hu-was-Samii-‘ul-‘Aliim.

66a.  ‘Alaaa  ‘inna  Lillaahi  man-  fis-samaa-waati  wa  man-  fil-‘arz.

Commentary

Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) came in the world and caused to hear the people by reciting the Word of Allah Almighty that is to say Holy Qur’aan. In reality; they were aware of the name of Allah (Great is His Glory) from the beginning, and they used to regard and value It, but only as much, how much it can be of a big leader of demi-gods (partly divine beings). They could not understand that they should give up using everything with own will which they had i.e. their wealth, power and influence etc. and give their entire matters and strength under the control and will of Allah Almighty. And they should not say even a word without His Command.

He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) caused to know them: Behold! The commandments of Holy Qur’aan are eternal. That shall be certainly; what is written in It. Suppose! If you have everything at this time, but there is no foundation of it. If you demised today; tomorrow would be second day. Everything will remain here and after death; the mankind will be entangled in a severe distress.

They did not understand this exhortation and began to talk abusive language. Certainly; the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) felt grief due to their such behavior. He was very sorrowful.

In this verse, He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has been consoled: you should not be grieved from nonsense speech of those ignorant people. There is nothing in it. In truth, everything like force, might, honor, dignity and splendor etc. is with Allah (Glory be to Him). He has been hearing all speeches of the ignorant; and is Aware of the reality of everything. He will decide at proper time. When He will settle the cases of all people; they will confuse. But knowing at that time will not be useful for them. This is the time of understanding. Beware! No decision finalized by any other; is acceptable to Allah. Everything in the heavens and in the earth is of Him only.

Belief and keeping one’s duty to Allah

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

62.  Beware! Verily the Friends of Allah! No fear comes upon them, nor shall they grieve.

63.  Those who believe and keep their duty (to Allah).

64.  Theirs are Good Tidings in the Life of the world and in the Hereafter. There is no changing the Words of Allah. That is the Supreme Triumph.
62.  ‘Alaaa  ‘inna  ‘Awli-yaaa-‘Allaahi  laa  khaw-fun  ‘alay-him  wa  laa  hum  yah-zanuun.

63.  ‘Allaziina  ‘aamanuu  wa  kaanuu  yatta-quun.

64.  Lahumul-Bushraa  fil-Hayaa-tid-dunyaa  wa  fil-‘Aakhir-rah.  Laa  tabdiila  li-Kali-maa-Tillaah.  Zaalika  huwal-Fawzul-‘Aziim.

Commentary

‘Awli-yaaa-‘Allaahi – (the Friends of Allah), ‘Awli-yaa-‘a is plural of waliy-yun. Origin of waliy-yun is w-l-ii, from which the word walaa-yat has come out. Walaa-yatun means nearness, propinquity. So walii of someone is the person who is close to him. Waliy-yUllaah is the individual who maintains his first relationship with Allah Almighty and have concern with other things exactly as much only; how much He has permitted. From which connection He has prevented, one should never go near it; whether he desires it so much. This inclination can be gained with Belief and keeping one’s duty to Allah (Taqwaa) only.

It is commanded that the people who chose Allah Almighty as their Companion, Supporter, Best and Protecting Friend, they have been escaped from every kind of fear and terror. The way of getting friendship of Allah Almighty is:

·       Believe in Him.

·       Have faith that there is neither any worthy of worship save Allah, nor can be any other Lord but God Almighty.

·       (Follow the Sayings of Allah’s last Messenger; Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and believe in the entire Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) that they were sent by Allah Almighty from time to time for guidance of the human beings.)

With such Belief and practice you can be an Abstinent. That is to say, the mankind should try every time that “I should never go near the matter; from which Allah Almighty has prevented”.

Then Allah Almighty commanded: Those people, who will follow these instructions, will live contented in this world, as well as they will abide in the Hereafter also with ease and comfort. It is the Promise of Allah Almighty. There is no changing in the Commandment; which He has passed. Certainly, that shall be.

Quran Chptr 10-61b (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L–1299)-درس قرآن

Allah sees all things all times

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

61b.  And not an atom’s weight in the earth or in the sky escapeth your Lord, nor what is less than that or greater than that, but it is (written) in a Luminous Book.
61b.  Wa  maa  ya’-zubu  ‘ar-Rabbika  mim-mis-qaali  zar-ratin-  fil-‘arzi  wa  laa  fis-samaaa-‘i  wa  laaa  ‘as-gara  min-  zaalika  wa  laaa  ‘ak-bara  ‘illaa  fii  Kitaa-bim-Mubiin.

Commentary

Ya’-zubu – (to remain invisible, to escape), origin of this word is ‘azuubatun, which means “to disappear, to vanish, passing away, to fade away, to dwindle”.

It is commanded that nothing is invisible for Allah Almighty in the skies and in the earth; even an atom’s weight. Everything whether that is the smallest particle or the biggest one, has been written in a Luminous Book. Which thing, incident or matter occurs in the universe at any time, whether that is quite ordinary or extraordinary, its outline is traced exactly in “the Office of the Operations” (Lawh-i-Mahfuuz) immediately. Which work is performed or committed by any being, light or heavy, what is said by any individual, good or bad, Picture of it is carved at the same time in the Character Roll.

In short, there is no occurrence in the world which is not mentioned There. After such best Arrangement, it is vain imagination of a mankind if he considers that “he can do what he wants, there is none who may ask him”.

Today, we hear that every sound which came out from any thing, every voice which is said by any being, with effect from the production of the world (till to date), exists in the open air, as in fact. The scientists have been going to invent such instruments, by which they may hear and see past conversations and occurrences as those happened due to their existence in the atmosphere.

Those people who understand the Holy Qur’aan, do not feel any wonder in it. They are sure that whether the human being can hear or not, however, according to the Command of Holy Qur’aan, those are safe as they were.

Quran Chptr 10-61a (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L–1298)-درس قرآن

You don’t know that you are not alone

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

61a.  And thou (O Muhammad) art not occupied with any business and thou recitest not a Lecture (Qur’aan) from this (Scripture), and ye perform no act, but We are Witness of you when ye are engaged therein.
(Section 7)
61a.  Wa  maa  takuunu  fii  sha’-ninw-wa  maa  tatluu  minhu  min  Qur-‘aaninw-wa  laa  ta’-ma-luuna  min  ‘amalin  ‘illaa  kun-naa  ‘alay-kum  Shuhuu-dan  ‘iz  tufii-zuuna  fiih.

Commentary

Shuhuu-dan – (Witness), it is plural of shaahid, which has been derived from the word “shahaadah”. Shahaadah means “to be present, to give evidence, martyrdom, witness, testimony etc.” Shaahid is the person who has been looking any incident and is a witness of it. It aims that Allah Almighty has been looking your every act at every time and is present there.

Tufii-zuuna – (you are engaged). This word has come out from ‘ifaazah, origin of which is fayz. Fayz means “to flow”. ‘Ifaazah means “to cause to flow”. But one meaning of this word is “to begin any work and being engaged in it”, here; the same meaning has been taken.

It is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! We have been looking your every effort that you (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) have been reminding the mankind about their ancient covenant and for it; you (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) have been guiding them unto the Straight Path of Practice. Reciting of Holy Qur’aan by you (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and showing them practically by acting upon its Commands, so that the people should learn. This all is being performed before Our Eyes. Then besides you (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), whatever the people are doing and how they are treating you (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), We have been observing.

Allah Almighty says: O people! Your Lord knows the entire condition of that work from beginning to end; in which you have been engaged. Good works of the good people and wicked deeds of the evildoers are being committed before Him. Nothing is out of His Sight. It is such an incident that if the human beings keep it in view properly, they can never commit any evil. The mankind considers that he is independent, can do in accordance with his will, but he does not know that he is not alone. His Master is with him every time and observing his every movement.

Quran Chptr 10-60 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L–1297)-درس قرآن

Plight on the Day of Resurrection

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

60.  And what think those who forge a lie against Allah (will be their plight) upon the Day of Resurrection? Lo! Allah truly is Bountiful toward mankind, but most of them give not thanks.
60.  Wa  maa  zannul-laziina  yafta-ruuna  ‘alAllaahil-  kaziba  yawmal-Qi-yaamah. ‘InnAllaaha  la-Zuu-  Fazlin  ‘alan-naasi  wa  laa-kinna  ‘aksara-hum  laa  yash-kuruun.

Commentary

It was manifested in the previous verses that the mankind has not been left free to use the worldly things in accordance with his own will. Whoever think so; they would have to exterminate the independence of other people for establishing their own freedom. Saying by them: We have been using our force to establish the independence of the mankind, is only for ostentation, otherwise real aim of their wars is not any other but that “the entire human beings should live as their submissive”.

It is commanded: Do you really not believe in the Day of Resurrection and consider that you should do in this world whatever you have to do? So, you put the Commands of Allah Almighty behind your back and said: If we abode by these restrictions; we would lose the world. We should do here what we wish to do. Who desires to be abstinent, is free. We shall take possession of the things and use authority to overcome the people.

Remember it that certainly the Day of Resurrection will come. Hear with your open ear that it is Bounty and Mercy of Allah Almighty on the human being that He has guided us with full instructions; mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan that “how can we get rid of difficulties of the world and the Hereafter”.

Maximum people are unmindful from the Instructions. And they do not use their sense to understand such instructions. The only purpose of the worldly life is that you should be thankful for Bounty and Mercy of Allah Almighty by esteeming the respite of this world and by obeying the commands of Allah Almighty; you should get freedom from misfortunes of the Judgment Day, and enjoy the life of eternal comfort.

God’s permission for lawful things

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

59.  Say: Have ye considered what provision Allah hath sent down for you, how ye have made of it unlawful and lawful? Hath Allah permitted you, or do ye forge a lie against Allah?
59.  Qul  ‘ara-‘aytum-maaa  ‘anzalAllaahu  lakum-mir-riz-qin  faja-‘altum-minhu  haraa-manw-wa  halaa-laa.  Qul  ‘aaAllaahu  ’azina  lakum  ‘am  ‘alAllaahi  taftaruun.

Commentary

Any little child does not understand “what is useful for him and what is harmful”. Therefore, he interferes; which thing comes before him and tries to put it in his mouth. If his parents and elders prevent him; he weeps. Then, when his parents cause him to take any medicine; he does not agree and continues weeping. This condition is of a child who although, after becoming a young person, will become either equal to his parents and elders in sense; or perhaps more intelligent than them. But at that time, he needs their close attention, protection and guidance.

On the contrary, the mankind could not find; even ten millionth part of Knowledge and Philosophy of Allah Almighty after ten million years’ life and experience. What will he think against the matters of God’s Wisdom and Exhortation, and which useful law will he frame on the basis of his unsound sense and thinking?

It is the reason that Allah Almighty described with His Mercy and Kindness to the human being; an easy and simple way of passing life in this world. Its example may be as “an owner of the garden sends his guest with his gardener for a walk; who knows: where is the sweet fruit and where is bitter, on which side are poisonous shrubs and thorny bushes, and where are beds of beautiful flowers?” it would be utmost misfortune of the guest if he does not go with a conversant and sympathizer but moves to any other direction himself. Then he would be responsible himself of his deed and cannot complain if any snake etc. bites him or he is entangled in any marsh.
