The Rights

LESSON # 502 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
The Rights
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –36 of 176, Section –6/24 (Part – 5)

And serve Allah: and ascribe nothing as partner unto Him and (show) kindness unto parents, and unto near kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and unto the neighbor who is of kin (unto you) and the neighbor who is not of kin, and the fellow-traveler and the wayfarer and (the slaves) whom your right hands possess. Lo! Allah loveth not such as are proud and boastful-
Wa’-budullaaha  wa  laa  tushrikuu  bihii  shay-‘anw-wa  bill-waalidayni  ‘ihsaananw-wa  bizil-qurba  wal-yataamaa  wal-masaakiini  wal- jaari-  zil-qurbaa  wal  jaaril-junubi-wassaahibi-  bil-jambi  wabnis-sabiili,  wa  maa  malakat  ‘aymaanukum.  ‘Innallaaha  laa  yuhibbu  man-  kaana  mukh-taalan-  fakhuuraa.

Lesson

After explaining the rights and duties of husband and wife, kindness and good behavior with each other, now Allah Almighty orders to serve Him, do not ascribe any partner to Him, and show kindness to each person according to his/her grade and depending on their needs. First priority to perform the duty is the rights of Allah Almighty. For this purpose, you should worship only Him. None is His partner in any matter. Do well by having hope of reward on the Day of Resurrection and believe in Allah Almighty. The persons who give their wealth to the needy being proud and boastful, they ascribe partner to Allah Almighty (because it is also a kind of polytheism).

Next to the rights of Allah Almighty, the rights of His servants come. Out of them, first grade is the rights of parents, who are responsible for the continuance of the generation. They look after and bring up their children at that time when the children would be very feeble and helpless. The parents are responsible even for their physical and mental training. Then the rights are about the near relatives and kindred. They use to help the person from time to time. Their rights should also be performed properly. Then the grade of rights comes about orphans and the poor. Orphan is helpless due to the depravity of parents and the poor is needy due to poverty. After it, the rights are about the neighbors who are of kin (unto you) and the neighbor who is not of kin have been determined. Then, there is a grade of friend and fellow. After them grade of travelers has come. Then it has been commanded to treat the slaves and maids with good behavior. At the end, Allah Almighty says, “The people who are proud and boastful (who do not consider anyone equal to them), they can’t perform these rights and Allah Almighty never likes such persons.”

How To Settle The Dispute Of Man And Wife?

LESSON # 501 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
How To Settle The Dispute Of Man And Wife?
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –35 of 176, Section –6/24 (Part – 5)

And if ye fear a breach between them twain (the man and wife), appoint an arbiter from his folk and an arbiter from her folk. If they desire settlement, Allah will make them of one mind. Lo! Allah is Ever – Knower, Aware.
Wa  ‘in-khiftum  shiqaaqa  baynihimaa  fab-‘asuu  haka-mam-min  ‘ahlihii  wa  haka-mam-min  ‘ahlihaa.  ‘Iny-yurii-daaa  ‘islaahany-  yuwaffi-qillaa-hu  baynahumaa.  ‘Innallaaha  kaana  ‘Aliiman  Khabiiraa.

Lesson

Three methods for correction of disobedient, indecent and uncivil wives were told in the previous verse as for those women from whom you fear desertion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Now it is being described that if these methods fail, then what should you do?

Allah Almighty says, “If you fear a breach between them twain (the husband and the wife) and they do not make a truce mutually, then you should appoint an arbiter from his folk and an arbiter from her folk. If they desire settlement and betterment of these miserable circumstances sincerely and whole-heartedly, then Allah Almighty shall create any form of agreement and make them of one mind.”

Unevenness in the matrimonial life was found everywhere in the world before Islam. The women were not given any right anywhere. The wife was considered worse than tongue-less animal and less than slave and bondmaid. Islam provided her a specific dignity as daughter, sister, wife and mother. Overall, it determined her rights and grades in each relationship.

There was some other badness in many religions that there was no religious and legal form of separation after once married, and some of them had made the separation a pleasantry. The husbands used to away their wives at a little matter. Holy Qur’an made correction and modified above both forms.

In case of dispute, at first it was told that the husband should try to correct the matters personally. Now it is being commanded that whenever it becomes impossible, then the dispute should be tried to settle through the arbiters of the folks. Stage of divorce should come at very end, which is considered a worse act out of the lawful deeds.

Virtues of the First Ten Days of Dhu’l-Hijjah

Virtues of the First Ten Days of Dhu’l-Hijjah

Among the great seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, which Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta-‘aalaa) has favored over other days. It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (Radii Allaahu anhu) that the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihii wasallam) said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” They said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” 1

It was also narrated from Anas (Radii Allaahu anhu) that the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihii wasallam) said: “There is no deed that is better before Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of al-Adha.” It was said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” 2

These texts and others indicate that these ten days are better than all other days of the year, with no exception, even the last ten days of Ramadaan. But the last ten nights of Ramadaan are better than the first ten nights of Dhu’l-Hijjah, because they include Laylat al-Qadr, which is better than a thousand months.
So the Muslim should start these days with sincere repentance to Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta-‘aalaa), then he should do a lot of righteous deeds in general, then he should pay attention to doing the following deeds:

1. Fasting
It is Sunnah for a Muslim to fast on the first nine days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, because the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihii wasallam) encouraged us to do righteous deeds in the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and fasting is one of the best of deeds, which Allah has chosen for Himself. 3
It was narrated from Hunaydah ibn Khaalid from his wife, that one of the wives of the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihii wasallam) said: The Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihii wasallam) used to fast on the first nine days of Dhu’l-Hijjah and the day of ‘Ashoora’, and three days each month, the first Monday of the month and two Thursdays. 4

2 – Reciting tahmeed, tahleel and takbeer abundantly
It is Sunnah to recite takbeer (saying Allaahu akbar (Allah is most great)), tahmeed (saying al-hamdu Lillah (praise be to Allah)), tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah (There is no god but Allah)) and tasbeeh (saying Subhaan-Allah (Glory be to Allah)), during the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, saying these words out loud in the mosques, homes, streets and every place in which it is permissible to remember Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta-‘aalaa), to perform this act of worship openly and proclaim the greatness of Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta-‘aalaa).
Men should recite out loud and women should recite quietly.
Allah says: “That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor” [al-Hajj 22:28]

The majority are of the view that the “appointed days” are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, because it was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (Radii Allaahu anhu) that the appointed days are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah.

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (Radii Allaahu anhu) that the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihii wasallam) said: “There are no days that are greater before Allah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days, so recite a great deal of tahleel, takbeer and tahmeed during them.” 5

The takbeer is as follows:
Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd (Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is no god but Allah; Allah is Most Great and to Allah be praise).

3 – Doing Hajj and ‘Umrah
One of the greatest deeds that can be done during these ten days is Hajj to the sacred House of Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta-‘aalaa). Whoever Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta-‘aalaa) helps to go on Hajj to His House and do the rituals in the required manner will – in sha Allah – be included in the words of the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihii wasallam): “An accepted Hajj brings no less a reward than Paradise.”

4 – Udhiyah (sacrifice
One of the righteous deeds that bring a person closer to Allah in these ten days is to slaughter the sacrifice and to look for a good, fat animal and to spend money on it for the sake of Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta-‘aalaa).

Let us hasten to make the most of these great days, before the negligent regrets what he did, and before he asks to go back and receives no response.

Dealing With Insolent Wife

LESSON # 500 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Dealing With Insolent Wife
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –34b of 176, Section –6/24 (Part – 5)

And as for those from whom ye fear desertion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.
Wallaatii  takhaa-fuuna  nushuu-zahunna  fa-‘izuuhunna  wah-juruuhunna  fil-mazaaji-‘i  wazribuu-hunn.  Fa-‘in  ‘ata’-nakum  falaa  tab-guu  ‘alayhinna  sabiilaa.  ‘Innallaaha  kaana  ‘A-liyyan- Ka-biiraa.

Lesson

In the previous lesson, we have learnt the status of the man by the word qawwaamuuna, that is to say; the men are ruler, caretaker, monitor and in charge of the women due to being excelled by Allah Almighty and spending their wealth for providing them their necessities of life. Woman of good disposition is that who is obedient and looks after in the absence of her husband. She is not only protector of her chastity and honor but preserves also the rights, benefits, wealth, property, family and household goods of her husband.

After telling about rights and duties of both (men and women), now principles and methods of correction are being described in case of produced difficulties and badness in the matters of practical life.

Mutual coolness and misunderstanding springs up for some times, although husband and wife have all good relations between them, and it is a usual matter. Moreover, it is also possible that an obedient wife may disobey or she may have some bad habits, which may occur at any time from her. What should be the behaviour of husband in these circumstances?

Punishment for those women has been described in the verse, who disobey, abuse their husbands or have bad habits. First step of their punishment is that the husband should admonish verbally and advise them. If she does not admit it then he should be separate from her bed during sleeping. If even then, she does not agree, then last stage is to beat her. Nevertheless, the beating should not be such severe as neither the signs of beating are seen on her body, nor her any bone is broken.

We knew from it that every mistake and omission has different grade, and order of punishment is according to those grades. Beating the woman is the last stage of punishment. If the fault is very customary, then it is better to admonish instead of beating her. Moreover, beating should also be reasonable according to the grade of her mistake. It should be kept in mind in each condition that neither any bone of her body should be cracked, nor any sign of such wound should remain on her body.

Then if the women abstain from your disobedience or their bad habits after either advice or sleeping on separate bed or beating, then you should also stop punishing them. In addition, neither you should question them closely nor scrape their mistakes. Do not blame them, willing or not willing, but fear Allah Almighty. Certainly, He is ever High, Exalted, Great, Overcoming and Master of entire creatures. Remember it too that punishment of beating is not for the eminent women but for the disobedient and having bad habits.

Men Are In Charge of Women

LESSON # 499 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Men Are In Charge of Women
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –34a of 176, Section –6/24 (Part – 5)

Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded.
‘Ar-rijaalu  qawwaamuuna  ‘alan-nisaaa-‘i  bimaa  fazzalal-laahu  ba’-zahum  ‘alaa  ba’-zinw-wa  bimaaa  ‘anfaquu  min  ‘am-waalihim.  Fas-Saalihaatu  qaa-nitaatun  haafi-zaatul-lil-gaybi  bimaa  hafi-zallaah.

Lesson

Qawwaamuuna (In charge, caretaker, and governors), this word’s singular is Qawwam, which has been derived from Qayyaam. There may be two aiming meanings of this word:

·         The ruler and the monitor.

·         The person, who provides surety, guarantee and security.

Many religious interpreters have described the meaning of qawwaamuuna  ‘alan-nisaaa-‘i as ‘the Sponsoring and providers of livelihood to the women, and their protectors.

Grades of men and women have been mentioned in this verse and it has been described that the men are senior to the women. Therefore, due to difference of their both grades, the difference will also be about them and this difference depends entirely on wisdom. Women and men are not equal. If the women wish equality and balance with the men, then it will be totally improper and unreasonable. Allah Almighty has appointed the men to look after the women, in charge of them and their caretakers. Following reasons have been described about the excellence of the men:

·       The man has been bestowed excellence over the woman. This excellence is with regard to carnal and spiritual, as well as knowledge and practice too.

·       The men spend their wealth on the women. They are responsible to provide them money or its value incumbent on the husband, daily food, clothes, expenses of maintenance, necessities of life, for affairs of housekeeping and at each time of exigency etc.

Two responsibilities of good-natured women have been described in the Noble Qur’an:

·       They obey their men.

·       In the absence of husband, they protect themselves and preserve the wealth of their husbands according to the order of Allah Almighty, that is to say; they keep the duties of their married state and do not embezzle in the right of their husband.

In the modern period, echo of mutual equation between men and women is elevating by the people of new (false) illuminated countries. The women are claiming equality of the men. For us, this verse of Holy Qur’an renders good service of flambeau of the way. In addition, these western nations have been viewing the vicious results of their civilization with their open eyes. Instead of following such nations blindly, it is our duty to get advice from this verse of Noble Qur’an and produce a pattern for others.

Heirs Are Only Near Kindred

LESSON # 498 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Heirs Are Only Near Kindred
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –33 of 176, Section –5/24 (Part – 5)

And unto each We have appointed heirs of that which parents and near kindred leave. And as for those with whom your right hands have made a covenant, give them their due. Lo! Allah is ever Witness over all things.
Wa  li-kullin-  ja-‘alnaa  mawaa-liya  mimmaa  tarakal-waa-lidaani  wal-  ‘aqrabuun.  Wal-laziina  ‘aqadat  ‘aymaanukum  fa—‘aatuuhum  nasiibahum.  ‘Innallaaha  kaana  ‘alaa  kulli  shay-‘in  Shahiidaa.

Lesson

‘Al-laziina  ‘aqadat  ‘aymaanukum(as for those with whom your right hands have made a covenant), the persons, with whom you have promised for something, any treaty of alliance).

It has been described in this verse that the heirs have the right of portion from the wealth, which has been left by any deceased person, whether the dead persons either are parents or near kindred and with whom your right hands have made any covenant, they should be given their due.

Allah Almighty recognizes well that, what the portion of inheritance should be for which heir and what should be given to those who have been promised and that who accepts His orders and who denies/disobeys.

Reason of this verse’s revelation has been mentioned that many people used to embrace Islam individually leaving their idolater and infidel families, and their families and relatives used to remain infidels until long. The Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) made two by two Muslims as partners (brothers) of one another to remove this condition of the Muslims. Therefore, those partners used to become heirs of each other. But after some time, when their near kindred and relatives embraced Islam, then this verse was revealed that actually, the hereditary is the right of only those near kindred and real relatives. Spoken brothers have no right in the inheritance. However, they should be treated with good behaviour in their lives, and if someone bequeaths anything for them at the time of death then it is convenient too. But lawfully they have no right in hereditary.

Allah Almighty has fixed the shares in the inheritance, which are due from the members of the family, near kindred and the relatives vide different verses. These entire portions of the inheritance have been determined in view of their rights and requisitions of all of them. These are good and proper from the beginning to the end for the Muslims in its acceptance. Therefore, we should perform them without any hesitation. Knowledge of Allah Almighty comprehends every thing. He understands very well the intentions and deeds of humankind. He shall reward or punish them in accord with their intentions.

Envy not one another

LESSON # 497 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Envy not one another
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –32 of 176, Section –5/24 (Part – 5)

And cover not the thing in which Allah hath made some of you excel others. Men shall have the benefit what they earn and women shall have the benefit what they earn. (Envy not one another) and ask Allah of His Bounty. Lo! Allah is ever Knower of all things.
Wa  laa  tatamannaw  maa  fazzalallaahu  bihii  ba’-zakum  ‘alaa  ba’-z.  Lir-rijaali  nasii-bum-mimmak-tasabuu.  Wa  lin-nisaaa-‘i  nasiibum-mimmak-tasabn.  Was-‘alullaaha  min- faz-lih.  ‘Innallaaha  kaana  bi-kulli  shay-‘in  ‘Aliimaa.

Lesson

If Allah Almighty bestows any person excel and superiority over you or other persons in any matter, and elevates him in it, then you should not be ambitious of that. It is likewise too as to interfere in someone’s life and wealth without grounds, which has been determined unlawful as per previous verses. Besides it, such greediness increases mutual jealousy and spite, and adversity of the Will and Wisdom of Allah Almighty manifests from it also. Allah Almighty does not like these entire subjects.

Purpose of revelation of this verse is that some women came to see the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! What is the reason that Allah Almighty addresses the men in each matter and commands them only,, and He does not mention about the women anywhere, in addition, the men are given double from the women out of inheritance of the dead? Those women have been replied for their question in this verse that Allah Almighty has made the men excel the women due to a specific skill. Therefore, they (the women) should not envy because of this superiority of the men.

Allah Almighty commands that the portion from the inheritance has been fixed for the women as well as the men, as some persons work more, so they get remuneration more. Nothing is lessened from it. Allah Almighty has bestowed the men a particular excellence, superiority and magnificence upon the women in accord with His Knowledge. If the women envy on it, then it will be an unreasonable desire.. However, if they get more reward and prize by doing good deeds, then it will be better. The person, who wishes more Bounty of Allah Almighty, he/she should call for His Mercy by doing more and more good deeds. He/she should not be seeker of the Bounty of Allah Almighty through envy and malice. Allah Almighty has Knowledge of every thing. He Knows the right and the place of everybody very well and deals them according to their position.

Avoid Great Sins if You Wish To Enter the Heaven

LESSON # 496 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Avoid Great Sins if You Wish To Enter the Heaven
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –31 of 176, Section –5/24 (Part – 5)

If ye avoid the great (things) which ye are forbidden, We will remit from you your evil deeds and make you enter at a noble gate.
‘In-  taj-tanibuu  kabaaa-‘ira  maa tun-hawna  ‘anhu  nu-kaffir  ‘ankum  sayyi-‘aatikum  wa  nud-khilkum-  Mud-khalan-kariimaa.

Lesson

taj-tanibuu(you avoid), this word’s origin is ‘ij-tinaab, which means ‘to avoid, to evade, to fly, to abstain from, to keep aloof (aversion).

kabaaa-‘ira{(great (things)}, its singular is kabiirah. The words Kabiirah and ‘akbar etc have been derived from the same word. Kabiirah is that sin, which is great. On its contrary, little and customary mistakes are called Sagiirah (minor sins).

It was mentioned in the previous verse that the person, whoso would squander someone’s wealth in vanity and kill any other person through aggression and injustice, his punishment is Hell. In this verse, it has been induced to refrain from the sins and on holding back from the evils, Allah Almighty has promised to forgive and pardon them, and caused them to hope for the Heaven, so that after knowing it, every person would have to try to refrain from the sins.

It is order of our Lord Almighty that who will keep himself away from the great sins, as crimes relating to any person’s theft, injustice, murder or plundering, then his little sins will be forgiven.

The religious scholars have made explanation of this verse differently. Here one Hadith {Saying of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him)}, described by ‘Abu Hurairah (may Allah Almighty be pleased with him) is being presented for correct explanation. Summary of the Hadith is ‘Messenger of Allah Almighty said, “Allah Almighty has determined sin by different parts of fornication upon the children of Adam (peace be upon him). For example, the part of eye is ‘to see’ in the act of adultery, the part of tongue is ‘to talk about the act of fornication, the part of spirit is ‘wish of adultery. Actual commission of the act of fornication depends on ‘womb and penis’ etc. If this bad act has been committed, then entire parts have fornicated i.e. the eye, the tongue and the heart etc. If it has not been committed, then all remaining helpers of the fornication act will be forgiven.

In this regard, the above-mentioned verse aims that the people, who refrain from the great sins, whether, they commit minor mistakes, which become cause of the great sins, but these people escape from the great sins, then they will not be questioned about their little sins, and they will get also reward due to not committing great sins. The reason of such reward is that they controlled their rebellious spirit and evil wishes, and they saved themselves from the grievous mistakes.

One Should Not Squander One’s Wealth in Vanity

LESSON # 495 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
One Should Not Squander One’s Wealth in Vanity
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –29 & 30 of 176, Section –5/24 (Part – 5)

29.  O ye who believe! Squander not your wealth among yourselves in vanity, except it be a trade by mutual consent. And kill not one another. Lo! Allah is ever Merciful unto you.

30.  Whoso doeth that through aggression and injustice, we shall cast him into Fire. And that is ever easy for Allah.
29.  Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina  ‘aa-manuu  laa  ta’-kuluuu  ‘amwaa-lakum-  baynakum-  bil-baatili  ‘illaaa  ‘an-takuuna  tijaaratan  ‘an-taraazim-minkum  wa  laa  taq-tuluu  ‘anfusakum  ‘Innal-laaha  kaana  bikum  Rahiimaa.

30.  Wa  many-yaf-al  zaalika  ‘udwaananw-wa  zulman-  fa-sawfa  nusliihi  Naaraa.  Wa  kaana zaalika  ‘alallaahi  yasii-raa.

Lesson

It has been ordered to the believers after describing the matrimonial laws and punishments of their disobedience that the people should not squander others’ wealth in vanity, for example; do not plunder the wealth of other people unjust through telling a lie, treachery, theft or plundering and lottery etc. However, if you trade by mutual consent or participate in any business, then it is lawful for you to take the wealth of one another by mutual willingness.

Second order, in this regard is “And kill not one another.” Injustice murder of any other Muslim brothers is unlawful.

Then it has been described that “Allah is ever Merciful unto you” Who reveals such orders, due to which neither any person can squander the wealth of any other person in vanity, nor he can kill someone unlawfully. These entire Instructions are for your goodness only.

The person, who does against these orders of Allah Almighty, that is to say; if he/she either squanders the wealth of others in vanity, by using force or tyranny, or kills someone, then his/her abode is Hell. It is not difficult for Allah Almighty to throw the tyrants in the Fire of Hell, but it is very easy and simple for Him. Therefore, in view of the above, you should refrain from tyrannizing someone because we are Muslims. If we shall tyrannize any person, we would be thrown into the Hell.

In addition, we should keep in view that Allah Almighty is Creator and Master of the entire creatures. No power can stop Him from doing justice and punishing the evildoers and neither He shell favor someone improper, nor will He use force unlawful against anyone.

Humankind Is Created Weak

LESSON # 494 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Humankind Is Created Weak
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –26, 27 & 28 of 176, Section –5/24 (Part – 5)

26.  Allah would explain to you and guide you by the examples of those who were before you, and would turn to you in mercy. And Allah is ever Knower, Wise.

27.  And Allah would turn to you in mercy. And those who follow vain desires would have you go tremendously astray.

28.  Allah Desires that He should make the burden light for you, and man is created weak.
26.  Yuriidullaahu  liyubayyina  lakum  wa  yahdiyakum  sunanal-laziina  min- qablikum  wa  yatuu-ba  ‘alaykum.  Wallaahu  ‘Alii-mun  Hakiim.

27.  Wallaahu  yuriidu  ‘any-yatuuba  ‘alaykum;  wa  yuriidul-laziina  yattabi-‘uunash-shaha-waati  ‘an-  tamiiluu  maylan  ‘aziimaa.

28.  Yuriidullaahu  ‘any-yukhaf-fifa  ‘ankum.  Wa  khuliqal-‘in-saanu  za-‘iifaa.

Lesson

Here it has been described that aim of the orders, which Allah Almighty reveals for humanity, is that the human beings would know the difference between lawful and unlawful. They may get the chance to follow the Path of last Messengers (peace be upon them). Moreover, He desires to forgive their sins and to have mercy on them. He knows very well our opportunities and circumstances, and the wisdom is hidden in His each revelation, plan and order. The result of it will be distance from the guidance and opposition of the last Chosen Entities {Prophets and Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon them)}, if His each order is not carried out properly. In this case, the mankind will remain debarred from His Mercy and Forgiveness.

Allah Almighty revealed different orders regarding most important matters of human life, that is to say, in connection with the matrimonial relationship, for instance, censure of fornication, repentance from it, decrees about the women, mention of the free, believing women, mahr after nuptial and other conditions and restrictions, prohibition of sinfulness. Human being becomes unpleasant in obeying these orders due to his/her some personal weaknesses. Therefore, Allah Almighty has checked very strictly to carry out these entire instructions and commanded that aim of these all conditions and restrictions is that Mercy of Allah Almighty would be revealed on the mankind. The persons, who are lewd, they want to bring you away from the straight path, so that you do also the lewdness and go astray like them.

Allah Almighty knows the weaknesses of the humanity and recognizes that how much human beings can have patience from the lust and desirables. Therefore, He has regarded mitigation in His each order. Allah Almighty has not practiced parsimony mercifully in His Religious Law.

Marriage With The Believing Maid

LESSON # 493 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Marriage With The Believing Maid
Surah NISAAA’  (WOMEN) - Chapter - 4)
Verses –25 of 176, Section –4/24 (Part – 5)

And whoso is not able to afford to marry free, believing women, let them marry from the believing maids whom your right hands possess. And Allah knoweth best (concerning) your faith. Ye (proceed) one from another, so wed them by permission of their folk, and give unto them their dowries in kindness, they being honest, not debauched nor of loose conduct. Then if when they are honourably married they commit lewdness they shall incur the half of the punishment (prescribed) for free women (in that case). This is for him among you who feareth to commit sin. And to have patience would be better for you. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Lesson

Muhsanaatun – (free, believing women), its singular is Muhsanah, which has been derived from hasan. Hasan means the fort, as though, Muhsanah is that free, believing and good disposition woman, who kept safe her chastity and honor like a fort.

Powerful and bad people used to make the weak and helpless men, women and children their slaves and bond-maids in many countries of the world before Islam and they used to buy and sell them in the markets like goats and sheep. When Islam came, it brought with itself the message of equality. Nevertheless, it was not too much easy to remove the so much old rules and to change this method of dwelling, of which system the people had been habituated. As far as it is possible, Islam cares for the facilities of the people. The slaves and the bond-maids were already present in the Arab and they were in the worse condition. Particularly the bond-maids were never in any counting. They were badly used to beat black and blue. Allah Almighty provided such rules with which the condition of slaves and bond-maids might be arranged better, and in the process of time, the system of slavery might be finished.

No bond-maid or slave is existent today in the world and certainly, the wreath of finishing this slavery system is upon the head of Islam. It is the custom of Holy Qur’an in removing the unlawful rules that easy commands are delivered in the beginning, as it seems that Islam desires to keep up this rule. But usually and gradually due to obeying these easy orders, the bad manners come to an end.

Holy Qur’an promoted the dignity of bond-maids in this verse so much that It ordered, “Do not put them making prey only of your bad wishes and intemperance. But wed them and make them your wives. In this order, the seed of removing the custom of bond-maids was sown. It has been commanded, “The person, who is not able to afford to marry any free, believing women, but he feels necessity of any woman then let him marry from the believing maids whom your right hands possess. And they should escape from the unlawful deeds, because safety of Belief is very important and the faith of bond-maids is as much credible as your own.”

It is the result of accepting these orders that today slavery has been finished from the world. The respect of the woman has been established in the society. However, one thing is pending until now that none should keep compressed any one. If it would have been done also as per the orders of Islam, then the matter would have been finalized very earlier.

Allowing wedding the bond-maids and slave-girls, Islam impeded the sinfulness on one side, while at the other hand It determined their grade equal to the free, believing women in the society. Moreover, It put in the rights of their children equal to the rights of the children of free, believing women on the condition that those children are from the bond-maids’ master. In addition, following conditions determined compulsory to marry the bond-maids:

·       Permission of wedding is taken from their masters.

·       Give unto them their dowries as a duty.

·        The bond-maids should be liker of goodness and chastity (Muh-sanaatun).

·       They should not be from the lewd and debauched women (musaafi-haatun).

·       They should also be not of loose conduct muttakhi-zaati  ‘akh-daan”  (secretly loving and beloved).

Allah Almighty says, “This is for him among you who feareth to commit sin. And to have patience would be better for you”. He also commands, “Then if when they are honorably married, they commit lewdness, they shall incur the half of the punishment (prescribed) for free women (in that case)”.
